My guess is Jack is OL #6 right now in the rotation so if CT goes down Butch wants best 5 in the game.

They were experimenting with Jashon at center last summer (before his injury)...like that as an option also. In any case flexibility is a plus.

I'm thinking Croom to TE is a depth concern for next year more so than the coaches just wanting to move him to TE.

Although WR won't be optimal (improved from this year, but still not optimal), TE depth will be a question mark behind Ethan and Creamer (if he develops)

Wolf, Wolf, Jakob Johnson, Creamer, Pope, Brooks (return from injury) and Croom. Am I missing anybody?

Exactly. I think the starting 5 for next year is set.

LT - Richmond
LG - Robertson
C - Thomas
RG - Wiesman
RT - Hall

I'm guessing Jack Jones will serve as the backup at guard and center.

Croom to TE is a no brainier. Jack at center tho, backup insurance?

Sounds like it to me. They probably wanna see if he'd be a better or worse option than Wiesman and Raulerson if Thomas goes down. If he is a better option at Center, then it sounds like he'll be the 4th man up on the interior line in 2016.

Ha-ha. We have gained a few posters that gave turned this forum to crap.

Happens this time of year...
Usually stops after signing day.

This is the time of year that my ignore list grows exponentially. Sometimes I take them back off after the silly season...depends on my mood. :)

This is the only website that I am addicted to.
I am VolsDoc81TX and I am a VFL! :hi:

Freak,
Thank you for all that you have done and continue to do for the VolNation!
Happy New Year!

IMO, since his first season Croom should have been a pass catching TE working from inside and the slot. His body was going to mature and he would eat his way out of being a WR. IIRC that was the plan even Dools had during/after his first season. He can do some damage inside with that body and WR skills if his mind is right and he works at it. But he has not proven to be durable enough to be an every down player.

A former Vol example would be David Martin. He was a back-up WR at UT. He struggled with injuries as well. He went to the NFL and got converted to TE. He had a nice career with a decade in the pros as a pass catching TE. He was good at what he did for Miami and GB.

Wolf is the man at TE. They are looking for who will be primarily the blocking TE - the Ellis replacement. Probably will come from Creamer or Johnson. Over time it is clear that Pope and/or Brooks will emerge as Wolf's replacement. Like both of them.

Fair statement of not?

Transfers that make a decision before the bowl games are made by the player themselves.

Coaches wait until after the bowl game to "encourage" kids to transfer.

IMO the fact we have zero transfers at this time is very encouraging especially considering the fact we already had a number this time last year
