Butch says it takes 6 to 7 years to build a program in the SEC

Uncontrolled emotional outburst? This is a fan message board. Can you tell me a better place to VENT your frustration as a fan?

Again...I have stated this many times...

No matter who is coach or what our record is, I will always love the Vols and be a Vol fan.

I will for d@mn sure voice my opinions as it is my right as a Vol fan to do so.

I will not be happy with 8-4 seasons or 9-3 when we lose AGAIN to FLA and/or bammer...I just won't and I will vent my frustration here. I will not accept moral victories or moral losses.

I will be a fan with GREAT passion and I will expect others to do so as well. They won't be, but I will still expect it. I will watch the games, wear my orange, and talk smack to any other college teams' fan...especially these chokies up here.

If you can't handle people expressing frustration or, on the flip side, those who are always sunshine pumping, maybe Volnation is not for you. I welcome your opinion...I may not agree with you and will likely argue with you, but as long as you are a Volunteer fan, you have every right to be on here and express said opinion.

You got real smarmy. Admit that at least. Issuing "princess" and falling back on the "you worshipped Dooley" crutch is weak at best. When you resort to those methods you void discussion and definitely don't invite a back and forth.

Ok Cinderella, sorry I offended you.

Couldn't resist.

PS:

the Princess was in response to Pajama Vols "Buttercup".

The Dooley worship was a question but I suspect it is true.

You're very personal and insulting. And you get away with it. :). What part of "does Butch have to beat them BOTH" next season has you so perplexed? Most "idiots" would be able to figure it out...after the THIRD issuance.

Ask a straight question without your "cute" riddles and I'll consider answering.

Do you ever contribute anything except smart aleck comments toward those who you disagree with?

Do you talk down to all those you "lead"? Fake intellectual guy. Your "contributions" are monotonous, heavy handed LONG diatribes that suck the joy out of this forum. No one can be as empty a vacuum as you portray. The day I get your sincere approval is the day I know my soul disappeared. You're dry and humorless...that's not insulting you...your dry monotonous posts do that for you. :hi:

Significantly less people

This is the truth. However, 20 ppl on message board are insignificant. So unless TFG is representative of several thousand others, his feelings after wins and losses do not matter.
Judging by merchandise sales, season tix sold, and attendance, the disgruntled are very much in the extreme minority.

i'm old enough to remember. but i'm also smart enough to know what this program has been thru the past 8 years and where we are today is light years from where we were after the 2012. rudderless, captainless ship, w/no direction or hope.

i think this has nothing to do with participation trophies or new vs. old school.

this has everything to do with having the ability to understand where we are today has nothing to do with what happened 20 years ago, and 20 years ago is not the measuring stick this group of Volunteers should be measured against, at least as it relates to a single season.

in other words, it does no good to say that because we won 10 games every year in the late 90's i'm not going to accept NOT winning 10 games now.

with no regard or respect for how we happened to get where we are now.

we sucked out loud for a pretty good stint over the last decade.

you don't go from a perennial 5-7 team to play off contender in a year or two (spare me the jim mclewain comparison, FL wasn't a perennial 5-7 team, and they didn't have 5-7 talent).

i will still contend that with what CBJ had to work with when he set foot on campus, to what they are today, should not go unnoticed or unacknowledged.

we are though, now to that point where it is reasonable to expect a 10 win season...a legit shot at beating FL and Bama again....this team is now that good. it looks like this program is in full on rebuilding mode.

it's completely realistic to believe, expect, want.....whatever you want to put in here....that we can beat FL, can beat AL and can win 10+ games....

and that if we don't, that all that hurt you talk about is now real again. it was real again in 15.

it does not , however, mean that it's time to reboot the whole program again if we lose those games and only win 9 in 2016.

and that doesn't mean i'm accepting mediocrity. that's a ludicrous statement.

for those of you out there that "aren't going to accept mediocrity"...then you need to put your money where your mouth is....because as fans, the only thing you can do to "not accept mediocrity" is some form of the following, but not limited to:

1. cancel your dish network subscription
2. don't buy any TN gear
3. Cancel ESPN and SEC Network
4. Don't even think about buying season tickets or single game tickets.
5. don't donate to the VASF.
6. contribute in no way to anything that positively impacts the athletic or football programs financially.

and if enough of you start doing this, then you're officially "not accepting mediocrity".

coming on VN and just stating "i'm not going to accept mediocrity", well, just doesn't really matter.

i'm happy with 8-4. not because it's the "new standard" at ut. but because when you go 5-7 for frickin 4 years in a row, it feels good not to suck out loud.

I wonder if you'd have posted this epistle when Dooley was the coach? Without fans we don't have a program. Fans have a right to expect and demand good coaching. We pay CBJ $4,000,000.00+/year, making big mistakes that cost us games is not acceptable (at least twice this year). And quite frankly, has Never been owned up to (like a man) by CBJ. Players make mistakes-they are students, not on the payroll, CBJ on the other hand, is a paid professional (and well paid at that). 8-4 is far better than it could be, but we should have/ could have been 10-2. If you can't admit mistakes, you are likely to repeat them. For all the monetary reasons you listed on what a fan should not do if they are unhappy with Jones, are the same reasons they have a right to expect first class game coaching. CBJ is a "good coach", I do not believe is a great coach, and never will be. The idea that we should all be jumping up and down, singing Rocky-Top, because we've gone 8-4 this year, is accepting lower standards than UT is accustomed to, however; if this keeps up (No SEC Championship for example) then it will become the new UT standard. Real fans (old fans) are not ready to live with that.:hi:

Whether you accept mediocrity, participation trophies, or undefeated seasons simply does not matter and has no bearing on the program.

If the fanbase collectively adopts the standard of "just win 8 games a year and he's fine by me," it absolutely affects the program. I'm talking about long-term more than this past season, and I don't think most people have gone there yet, but some have and that definitely would make a difference.

answering all that with this ^^ really shows how clueless you are in this debate. I admire the patience of those who keep trying to make a point past your concrete wall of knuckle head. Personally I like to take the road where I just call you an idiot and take my warning.

I don't "talk down" to most people here and especially those who make an effort to have an intelligent exchange. You just aren't one of those.

No one forces you to read anything I write. But that wasn't the question. The question which you tried to evade of course is what YOU contribute of substance. Your decision to attack me personally rather than answer... is an answer in itself.

The day you get my sincere approval... will be the day when you show "humor" and demonstrate that you have a "soul". Your posts here are self-absorbed and frankly not funny. I understand completely when you are trying to be cute and funny... it just isn't.

Your obsession with me borderlines on creepy.

You're talking about a fanbase. I'm talking about a few lovely people on this message board.

Let's try to retain some perspective, VKA.

In defense of Butchna, it's worthless to argue on this board too much using facts/

89% of the people on here can barely put on their pants and they wind up cluttering good back and forth with their Ricky Bobby. Just look at how many of Daj's threads they've butchered already. Why would anyone take actual moments out of their day to answer someone who doesn't know ****e from shinola and it's obvious to everyone but them.

I stick to smart ass comments myself usually for this reason.

The old "if you disagree with me, you're stupid" and "if you don't go away 'you're obsessed with me'" tactics. I'm "self-absorbed" and you're altruistic by sharing your demands and "ways things should be done" with us peasants. A negative score on humor from a humorless drone speaks big for me. This ain't YOUR forum. You put your tired crap on here, I get to respond. As far as what I CONTRIBUTE? A counterpoint to your stale act that you disguise as insight. Just because you bury your bull in a War&Peace prose doesn't give it merit. You're full of yourself...which should keep you busy...but you keep sneaking out of the hospital.

its real simple.
Basically have some conviction and don't support this coach's tenure. Don't just talk.., ACT.

How else do you plan on not accepting mediocrity? Coming here and saying so?

Then all I got is a slow clap for ya...

Facts are subjective...and get distorted on this board. Those that are too aloof fail to recognize that...and just end up failing.

Thanks for "not contributing" with me buddy. :)

I emailed daj a few months ago telling him he was missed. He had decreased his pposting because of what you describe. Shame, too. Besides me, he is one of the few people that bring excellent content to this board.

Fair enough. I'm just pointing out that it can matter if enough people do it, but for one individual person I agree with you.
