Is Dobbs the best SEC QB in 2016?

Chad Kelly.

I can see how some would think that, but talent-wise they are comparable in my book. I would much rather have Dobbs when it comes to the intangibles though. Leadership, intelligence, character, etc.

Dobbs is much better than Tee was. More accurate thrower, much more dynamic runner.
That's so silly. If you ever watched Tee play you would know. Tee was light years ahead at this point in Dobb's career. After next year after Bama and Florida are whipped under Dobb's I'll change my tune. For now check the facts on Tee.:lolabove:

Lol at this thread. Yeah dobbs will be the best quarterback in the SEC if he throws better, doesn't fumble the ball every game, has a deep ball that's within 10 yards of the receiver, beats a ranked team, has over 100 yards passing. Face it guys. Dobbs is a middle of the pack sec quarterback. And for D4H, saying dobbs is the best quarterback since Peyton is so foolish it isn't even funny.

Talent-wise, yes. Kelly was just much more productive last year, primarily he's a better passer. I love Dobbs, but give me the 1500 extra passing yards and 13 more total tds.

I thought it was so evident that no blue font was necessary.

But if Dobbs is the best QB in the SEC in 2016, then its going to be a really long year for the conference.

Being the best QB in the SEC in '16 is like being first in a turtle race

I watched Tee play two seasons. And I watched a QB that couldn't hit the broad side of a damn barn throwing the ball. Talk about silly....how in the hell can you say he's light years ahead of Dobbs. Give me something, anything that supports that besides him being surrounded by a team chock full of NFL players and his one afternoon in Columbia, SCar? Anything, give me something.

Tee was a winner who had a penchant for making the big play at opportune times.....in 1998. Go back and refresh your memory with how 1999 played out.

Come on Volnation. Can we just agree that we'll be in the hunt for the SEC Championship game next year, and with the overall talent we have at the quarterback position, I don't envy anyone else's situation over ours ?! How long has it been since we could say that ?!

Kelly is undeniably a better player than Dobbs, but I still have a glimmer of hope that Dobbs can improve this offseason. I hope the coaching staff realizes the need to allow him to get into a rhythm to improve consistency.

Regarding Tee Martin, I've got to agree that he wasn't all that great...more of a game manager surrounded by unbelievable talent. Also, the Georgia QB beat his completion record this past year and then got benched for a 3rd stringer...just sayin

You are right about the stats. Kelly almost doubled up Dobbs in every category against arguably better competition. However, in 2016 Kelly could be without four of his five starting OL and Laquon Treadwell. I don't think he will have those kind of numbers this year.

Tee Martin is not similar to Josh Dobbs other than being black. Tee had a huge arm but was even less accurate than Dobbs and held onto the ball a lot. He also didn't run for nearly as many yards as you think he did.

I'm not saying he was a bad QB, but a lot of revisionist history comes Martin's way based on completing a ton of passes in a row against SC and 2 deep balls he hit in the SECCG and Fiesta Bowl in 98. His numbers in 99 bordered on ugly.

You could be right. Can only go off of what we saw this year. Kelly was much better from the pocket and was in the ballpark running the ball.

I'd put Kelly ahead at this point, but it's close.

If Dobbs improves pass accuracy he will be the clear leader

1000% spot on. God bless Tee for being the QB on that championship team, appreciate everything he did, all the clutch plays he made in '98 at key moments, even when he was in the midst of a bad game performance (think '98 Florida game). But he was not a top QB when he played and he's not even a top 5 Tennessee qb all time IMO.

Call me crazy but id take Bray over Dobbs on this team. Id Beay had a competant defense things would be totally different. Id take a QB that can pick apart a secondary over a QB that can scramble. Clausen over Dobbs. Ainge over Dobbs. Dobbs just isnt complete as a passer.

Anybody being intellectually honest about it put Kelly ahead of Dobbs...comfortably ahead of Dobbs.

Anyone saying they'd rather have Bray over Dobbs is nuts. Bray > Dobbs in arm strength, and that's it.

You're insane. If Bray had even an above average HS coach or even the 5th worst UT defense in history instead of the worst he's looking at a 10 win season and an SEC East win.

A better overall team and coaching does not make an individual player better, and QB always gets the credit when a team does better. Bray, talent wise and talent alone, is the best QB we've had since Manning, and that's nearly impossible to argue with. He single handedly kept us in nearly every game his last year in spite of our horrid defense and coaching, and there's a reason one of the most respected NFL head coaches is keeping him on his roster in spite of him being injured the past year.

Dobbs is good, there is no doubt, maybe even best in the SEC next year over all, but his skill set is perfectly suited to this offense, and barring an extreme increase in passing accuracy next year he most likely won't get much of a shot at the NFL.
