The solution is to include a process to appeal it.

Oh wait. They did.

You ever try to go through the government to get anything done?

Ask any military member how long it takes a VA claim to come in and get back to me. And that's for our veterans. Imagine how long they would drag their feet on something they really, really, really don't want to do.

But of course, that's your M-O, so I don't think you'd object.

Hell, just recall your last trip to the DMV to renew a licence!

But it is a secret list so you don't know you're on it until you're arrested at a traffic stop or you are stopped at the airport and miss family Christmas.

You may disagree with it for the standard NRA reasons, but that there are mistakes on the list is a poor argument since they addressed it in the bill.

As a former Intel person I say there should be a hearing before your right to travel is impeached. I know you will say there is no right to fly, by with the list being distributed to all law enforcement it is now effectively an obstacle to free travel.

How can you appeal something when the government doesn't have to tell you or the judge why you're on the list? You conveniently forget the "national security" exception.

Not sure who would ever be against this. It's just "common sense", right?

I thought so at first also. Same with the surveillance stuff, then I changed my mind. I don't trust the people who make up the list and would like to know the criteria used to put someone on the list, first off. Giving up our liberties for security is a slippery slope. I also feel like the terrorist win when Americans are willingly giving up freedoms for security. The current list is a joke.
