This recruiting battle is getting crazy. Georgia 24/7 site says Auburn now leads

Literally means nothing.

Georgia writers and fans alike absolutely refuse to ever believe Tennessee is a contender for a recruit from the state of Georgia.

It's true. Preston Williams never had a single CB to Tennessee. They were all UGA and SC.

Haha, it's not cheating unless you get caught

Unfortunately that doesn't apply in Auburn's case seeing as though they have been caught more times than any team not named SMU. Lucky for the War tiger eagles today their compliance director is none other than Dave Didion, former NCAA watchdog. Makes it easy to sweep infractions under the rug when you have the enforcement arm of the NCAA working for you.

So did you ever get to check out Cecil Newton's new church?

The NCAA started imposing penalties for violations in 1953.

In the years since then:

Auburn University has been placed on Probation 4 times, covering 11 years.
That's good for 3rd in the ENTIRE NCAA.

Auburn University has been placed on Bowl Ban 9 times.
That ranks 1st (FIRST!) among all NCAA schools.
To put that in perspective, the NCAA had issued 80 bowl bans thru 2012 (the timing of these numbers).
Auburn was responsible for over 10% of all NCAA bowl bans.

Good thing they were never caught...

Edit to add:

Auburn has twice been denied the SEC Championship due to bowl ban;

1957 & 1993

That's good for a tie at 2nd place, behind only Florida.

Off topic, but who is going to be the AU DC? I haven't kept up with it at all, but a Bama fan told me Lance Thompson may get the job. I couldn't imagine Thompson ever being a DC, much less at Auburn. Seems like that'd be disastrous.

Tia
Looks like Tom Allen from South Florida is the leading candidate. He coached linebackers at Ole Miss before taking the job at South Florida. They play in a bowl game on Monday so it could be quick. And you're welcome!

I have had a first hand opportunity to watch Tom Allen coach in the past. He is a a great coach with a lot of high energy. His kids love to play for him.
