It doesn't but I would make large bet that other programs are recruiting against us showing our poor draft results and saying we don't run a NFL friendly style

Other teams certainly say all kinds of things that aren't true or tenuous at best.

That doesn't make it right, and Tennessee could easily counter such an argument and play it right back in their favor.

For example, "Tennessee talent wasn't where it should be, they're right, but the guys I've recruited and continue to recruit are NFL-level talent, like you, (enter recruit's name). We've done well with what we were left, but we need players like you to get to that next level. You can see where we're headed."

I agree but it doesn't appear that at least a few kids are being convinced against us

What kind of draft grade did tiny get?

Was the significance of the injury found out well after those grades were given?

McShay
Matt Miller
Jon Ledyard

I don't know if he's 1st Rd IMO, but there's at least a few guys I've seen that are that high on him.

He was very good in press coverage this year. Teams didn't target him near as much as last year. People said he had a down year because he looked to give up more catches but he wasn't even targeted most of the time. Mitchell caught a TD then he was quiet the rest of the game. Oklahoma went away from him all game. Bowling Green went away from him. Ridley caught back shoulder fades which is almost impossible to defend if thrown properly. You can't name a game where a WR straight up destroyed him with passing tree routes. Then he's a big time return man. His value is very high.

If we're that worried about having informed opinions before stating our own opinions, this board needs to shut down right now.

I can see it both ways as far as running out of steam mid-season, but mistakes are criticized in sports. I'm not sure why this one would be exempt.

I just think a coach should be less wishy-washy. Be sure you've got it for at least a season before you keep going. I'm not calling the man a devil (at least not for this :) ).

Then he shouldn't have been persuaded. Coaches need to be more sure of decisions like that. Getting pissed at admin or fans is no reason to quit, mid-season on your players.

Again, this is my opinion, and you're welcome to yours. I'm not sure why I need to be called an idiot in this case. Other reasons, sure, but I think I've got a case here. :)

It's all good guys. :)

Good points. Wrong, but good :) haha jk, and props for disagreeing politely.

Wes Rucker actually just tweeted a lot of scouts have Cam's stock slipping, but McShay has him as a first rounder.

Why not take a HS guy in that case?

Let's preface by saying in my scenario the team is in need of immediate depth. Maybe draft, injury, or previous bust would be factors.

In said scenario an atheltic juco guy with 3 to play 3 is IMO worth a flier over a totally raw HS with the potential he gets a RS. Assuming this guy has a season under his belt and is as athletic as the HS equivalent. Few juco guys fit this and few situations warrant it but I would not say never.

The only point of JUCO guys is to ply right away and at minimum give you solid depth.

True but providong solid depth would not preclude the possibility of a RS. Juco guys with 3 to play 3 are a step ahead of an EE IF the Juco is an EE.

Agree. I compare the Cam discussion to my thoughts last year that Barnette would have a down statistical year. No one wanted to hear it and I got scoffed but it happened. In part because they got pub and teams schemed around them. Happens a lot.

I'll back up my juco comments with Justin Martin. Had he not healed up and ended up with a RS would we consider him a bust? He played all 12 but only started the last 5. We needed him bad enough to let him play rusty and coming off of injury. Those scenarios warrant taking a flier.

Justin Martin wasn't a normal JUCO though and definitely not a flier.

Sutton may be a second round guy but he's also a two for one deal. You get a return man and elite CB. I can see a team in need of explosiveness and defense jumping up to take him.
