I think if he OV's to Oregon instead of Bama, I think that'll show that distance is a factor and he stays out west. If he takes the Bama visit, that'll show that distance isn't a big factor and we fight off Bama and Washington. I'm not giving up on Butch and Strip on this one but it will be a dog fight to keep him. Wish he was an EE.

Why do we always freak out when a recruit has a good visit somewhere else? How common is it for a recruit to have a bad visit somewhere? So, now he's a soft commitment? It was one article. He is blowing up. Coach Jones and staff will not go gentle into that good night. We may end up losing him, but it is far from time to lose our freaking minds.
Cause our fans are a bunch of wusses who have been dooleyed. I posted a similar rant in the Christmas- Giles thread.

First part of this post is sound logic IMO.

Just have to adapt and overcome, right Dune?

Absolutely! I think I've done a great job over the years. The negativity use to drive me crazy. Now I realize all fan bases have the sky is falling mentality if the least little thing goes against the program they cheer for. At this stage, you just tell them to watch taking too many estrogen pills and move on.

I'm glad you you keep a positive attitude regarding recruiting, but this "I'm better than the Catbone's of the world because I'm not negative" attitude gets a bit old.

Cue the personal attacks in response.

Sounds like the 2 hour drive home is what got him thinking. Of course, If he's not gonna be a Vol, I'd much rather he go to Washington or Oregon. I like that he's still up in the air about wether that final OV will be to Bama or Oregon. Would hate to lose him at all, but it's the thoughts of losing him to Bama that really makes me want to puke.
That's what it sounds like to me too. I'm more worried about Washington than Alabama.

A sound logical post IMO. It has no place on this board.

"Once I am done taking my trips, that's when I will sit down with my family and decide where I am going to play the rest of my (college) football."

Doesn't committing to a school mean you've already decided that?

And Washington's facilities are top-of-the-line? Uh, no. Not even close.

The word "committed" does not hold the same definition in the business world of football that it once did. Commitments mean nothing. It's hard to get excited over most prospects until NSD comes and they are locked down. Kid's get way to caught up in the spotlight and social media aspect of things these days that they will say just about anything.

This is why verbals mean nothing till pen is on paper. I'm sure the staff knew this would go down to signing day with him still taking visits.

The good news is he already likes us alot if he committed so all we gotta do is keep reminding him Why he committed in the first place.

I trust Butch to close this one.

It was a rhetorical question. I get the process-- I just don't see the point committing to a school, even verbally, if you're this undecided.

Oregon and Bama's facilities will give him lots to gush about, so yes, this one's not going to be over until the papers are signed.

Obviously he is gone. I don't know why the kid just didn't come out and say. I like the nice cars, free car repair, free clothes and cash. Oh, did I mention that Bama also paid my high school coach.

I mean this has to be it. It sure as heck couldn't be Nicky's charming personality.
