One thing our coaching carousel has entrenched in me is that keeping your good coaches and replacing bad ones is probably the most critical piece to a great program.
When Fulmer was good he had great help. When he was bad it was when he lost great help and didn't hire well.
Muschamp was largely a victim of not sticking with one OC. Chizik lost Malzhan and crumbled. Meyer started failing at UF when staff left. The list is damn long.
Everybody wants the big name coaches everybody wants the rock star recruiters but what kids really want 4 years in is that guy they signed with still leading them to success. Look at most of the underdog schools that do well, it's stability. Mizzou and Pinkel, Snyder and KSU, Boise when they had Chris Peterson. Hell Iowa is one.
It's too blue collar to make fans happy but stability goes a long damn way.
In that regard I may ***** about Butch's ho hum hired but it makes a lot of sense. Fat chicks do it gratefully. He has a lot of grateful but quality guys on staff.
The other professor just emailed me saying if I wrote a 5 page essay by Monday night that my final exam grade would be the average of my first two exams. Being a funny guy who gets along with his professors well has finally paid off! I could write a high quality 5 page paper in my sleep as I am-- spoiler alert going to learn about the Mock-- a journalism major who aced the English/Reading/Writing sections of the ACT and the AP English test.
A huge weight has been lifted from my shoulders. Thanks for everyone's concern.
That's cute.
Going to take more than 2 good classes to get to that level.
They are 71st right now. They are where we were with Dooley but Butch came in and killed it in recruiting right off the bat. Got Dobbs to flip from ASU.
Even if he recruited well, it's going to be awhile before they climb out of the ashes.... Second thought they're done.
It's gonna be satisfying to win the SEC in a few years with a bunch of no-name guys on our coaching staff. Meanwhile, other SEC schools fight over the hottest names of the year and continue to get mixed results (unless they're Bama, but that's ALL Saban).
@brentdougherty: As expected. RT @Carvell_AJC: UGAs Jeremy Pruitt expected to named Alabamas defensive coordinator https://t.co/P75TVFRCgQ
