I say this about every "slam dunk" hire, and Kirby Smart is far from a slam dunk.

I don't even think Kirby was pursued nationally by other programs when there were job openings.

GA fans are trying to justify the hire, by saying he's an UGA alum and praising Bama's defenses. But, Saban has always been the guy behind the defense not Smart.

Who is Bama's #1 RB next year? Harris? Scarbrough?

It seems like the long line of Coffee -> Ingram -> Richardson -> Lacy -> Yeldon -> Henry will finally be broken and they won't have a can't miss guy at the position.

I texted this to my bama friend. Here was his reply:


"Well yeah they obviously pick players off the top teams every year . But also Reggie runs our D so that may have helped. His stats were actually hurt by our DL stopping the play so often"

A ton better than JRM? JRM deserved something. I like Ragland, but as we all know, the team you play on and its success earns you these types of honors.

No way, my post was just alluding to the fact that there are a lot of good linebackers and running backs in the SEC this year.

Sorry if this has been discussed already, or if it's off topic, but I can't find info anywhere: Is the Devan Barnett kid we offered a younger brother of Derek or something? I can't find him on google but the offer got a lot of likes in the recruiting tweets thread.
