2016 Election

Christie would be okay, but consider for a moment the pool of candidates we have from the major parties. Seriously, is this the best America can do? There are exactly zero candidates which elicit even moderate confidence. It's a political crapfest and a complete embarrassment.
My thoughts as well..... The democratic debates look like talking corpses and the reps are all over the place. I don't see one being head and shoulders above the rest.

I'm wondering if Christie can get any traction - he's a saner version of Trump. I dislike many of his views on civil liberties but I bet he could win in the general if the right supported him.

I talked to a very lib friend of mine the other day and even he was positive about Trump because of his portrayed strength. People are tied of our beta male leader. Christie has the strength but not sure he'll ever get the right to support him.

One of his biggest strengths in the general is also one of his biggest weaknesses in the primary season; being a governor of a blue state with a blue congress.

The Current RCP National Average:

Rubio 47% Hillary 45%
Hillary 46% Carson 46%
Hillary 47% Trump 44%
Hillary 47% Cruz 44%

We need a moderate party.

Both the R's and D's have become to far right/left.

I'm personally sick of the bickering.
Get rid of the state primaries and it would happen. That's where the hard leaners come from because middle of the road people don't vote in large enough numbers to counter the hard core leftists/rightists.

Yep. He's just playing on the same "us versus them" mentality that many have before him.

Trump probably goes to bed every night laughing at how obscene this has become.

I'm still leaning to his campaign being a massive troll. The more extreme he goes trying to kill it, the opposite occurs with his support; it's ridiculous. I think it's a big game now - 'how outrageous can I get before I finally get called?' He has to be laughing.

We'll know he's getting paid off by the Clintons if he announces a 3rd party candidacy.

It's obvious this was his intention at first. Now, I fear he's got so much support he probably didn't expect that he probably believes his troll job could actually land him the presidency.

When he asks Caitlyn Jenner to be his running mate, you know it was the biggest troll job ever.

You mean like Romney and McCain getting the Republican nomination?

Dude is going to write a book. "How I got Hillary elected"

Of course he'll do it from his cushy Ambassador post she hands him.

Who were the alternatives? Michelle Bachmann and Rick Santorum? Romney and McCain were the best general election candidates because the pool of competitors was literally that bad.

McCain lost because the reincarnation of Christ probably wouldn't have beaten Obama after 8 years of Bush. Romney lost because he couldn't connect to the American people whatsoever, but he put up a better fight than any of the other morons would have.

We'll all know or some will have the opinion he is getting paid off by the Clintons?

Who has the most money, Clinton or Trump?

That was a bit of an exaggeration, but I don't think Trump is ideologically pure enough to run a 3rd party campaign with the knowledge that he would split the vote and lose. He's way too prideful. So yeah, I think he understands it would lead to President Hillary.

Point is, there were further right candidates, but the party wanted the most moderate in each case. And both lost.

Moderates lose. Period. The candidate that can explain conservatism and self reliance can win. They will even pull minorities that are fed up with the status quo.

Well yeah, because the candidates that were further right were complete loons. There's a reason each of them took a turn at the top of the polls. They were searching for the anti-Romney but it became evident that none of them were remotely qualified for the office.

This field at least has Cruz and Paul, who are very far right and are also intelligent and articulate, but I don't think either has a great chance to win the general in this political climate.
