I'm saying a kid could be an All-American but Butch won't start him. Not TKjr but in general at any position. They love seniority for some reason.
We start plenty of the young guys...just less than half the starting 22.
Starters on Offense that are SO or younger
Malone
Robertson
Thomas
Hall
Wolf
Hurd
Starters on Defense that are SO or younger
Barnett
Smith
Kirkland
Martin
Martin was slowed by injury or probably would have started sooner. Kirkland should have started day 1
Kirkland SHOULD NOT have started day one. He didn't know the defense. He couldn't have gotten the guys lined up properly. He was getting burned by Powell in the UF game. Regardless of what we think, he was not ready.

I saw that but everyone else was lined up right. Jumper was just out of position, and slow to react, and couldn't fight through blocks. It amazes me that message board posters know more than the coaches.

Dude Jumper gave Oklahoma a whole drive that led to their first TD. The Bowling Green game he gave up a big 4th down conversion from hustle alone. The Florida game he was terrible too. You say Kirkland got beat by Powell well news flash if he's matched up on Powell knowing the defense or not that's a win for Florida 9/10 times. Coaches can't let that matchup happen period. Powell is the same player that outran the Ole Miss defense like they were standing still. I highly doubt Kirkland can keep up with him in coverage. Kirkland grew by leaps and bounds with the increased PT. Jumper didn't make any plays while he was in despite giving up plays. Kirkland forced a fumble and got a sack in his first game of action. I'd rather have a guy in who will make big plays while busting plays instead of one who gets gashed and doesn't do a thing to balance things out. That's why coaches said forget it lets just go with the young guy.
I agree, if Kirkland would have started from the first game, the extra PT he would have gotten would have been extremely beneficial. Sure he would have made some mistakes, but it still would have been better than Jumper lining everyone out properly. If every thing that we hear about Kirkland having a photographic memory, the he would have learned very quickly from his mistakes. By the time we got to the Florida game, he would have been better prepared to make the right calls, adjustments, etc., so we could have beaten that Gator a$$!
