Looking back at the season, the program made a lot of progress. 8-4 record was an improvement. Getting to a good bowl game is good. Program enjoyed another season of stability. But for me, the most important benchmark of Team 119 was the individual player development all across the roster. Our freshmen and sophomores improved so much over the course of the season. And it was on both sides of the ball. It was refreshing to see the younger kids growing up and contributing. Team 119 was a special season.

Hey, we still have one more game. And then NSD is right around the corner. And then spring practice. We're a long way away from the dreaded April-July stretch.

Yeah, I know. Got so used to the games on Saturday. Probably headed to the Outback bowl. Maybe some surprises on NSD, too. No idea who. Just hoping..

Todd Monken has done a better job at So Miss than Fuente did at Memphis.

So Miss was a zero win team when he took over 3 years ago. He now has them in the CUSA championship game up 21-7 against WKU. Chance to get to 10 wins. And he doesn't have a #1 QB NFL Draft pick on his roster.

I have said that Fuente inherited some decent talent even though the roster was thin, but he still did a great job with player development. I will defend him in this case in that Southern Miss plays in a weaker conference. Before you say it's all relative, they used to be in the same conference as Memphis and beat them regularly. No doubt that Monken has done well, but I don't believe they are as good if they had played the AAC schedule.

Yeah, you can make an argument for either. We will see how Monken does in 2016. If he has another big year he will undoubtedly get a nice job at a big program.

OMG. Just came from the BskB forum. Much worse the FB forum. Now I remember why I only visit that one every 2 weeks!

It still exists? I was backing Javale McGee's aunt in the Regular Posters thread and the whole forum disappeared...assumed the program shut down. :)

A Look At The Vols Updated Records - University of Tennessee Official Athletic Site

Pretty amazing the number of records team 119 is setting this year. Our fans aren't fully appreciating how special this year's team is. Some of the best individual performances and team performances in program history.

Great post. There seem to be several all-time great Vols on this team right now. It's not a stretch to say Dobbs, Hurd, Berry, Sutton, Barnett, and JRM are among the best in program history at their position.

I'm going to try and tune it all out this offseason. These past 4 or 5 years I've followed Vol football more closely than I ever have in my life. Each offseason pouring over every nugget I could find that would suggest we had hope of one day being back.

I'm now convinced beyond all doubt that we are back. And I'm going to reward myself by not fretting over every little detail and rumor about the program. Once the bowl game comes and goes, I'm going to into a much needed Vol hibernation. Check in on the class on NSD. Watch the spring game and then dial back until next fall.

...of course, once those preseason mags hit the shelves next spring and show us in the top 5 or 10, all bets are off...

There is absolutely no chance we are a consensus Top 10 team in the preseason. Most likely were somewhere around 15
