Some may remember around this time last year I went through a rough time when my mom got super sick & was lying on her deathbed for about 30 days but by the Grace of God she pulled through it..the same week mom got sick my girlfriend of six years decided to break it off for another guy too Lol.

Anyways ever since then I've just really been burdened & especially the past few months just feeling like I'm not doing enough & making the impact on this world that id like to in my 23 years. I love flying airplanes & have a passion for it & but I feel like my purpose for living is bigger than a job. I just wanna help people in someway. Too much pain & suffering..too many people fighting for their lives with awful diseases..too many lonely & broken people that need someone to show them they care & they're loved & I just feel like I'm not really doing anything to help..I'm just here going through the motions of life. I just want to find my purpose in life & make a difference in the world is all.

I know this has nothing to do with football but you guys have been there for my before & have given me some really good advice. I KNOW I'm supposed to do more with this life than I'm doing..feeling has been too strong in my heart for too long to ignore. And trust me I pray about it daily so I'm Just asking for a small tiny prayer that I'd find my purpose in life..thanks guys.

Sounds like God is really at work in and around you. Just listen to the Holy Spirit and see His direction for you.

I struggled with being an engineer when I thought I could do so much more, but I've found out it doesn't matter where you are so long as you shine the light of God to those around you.

Colossians 3:23, one of my favorite verses.

"And in whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as you are working for the Lord and not man."

South Carolina fans are ripping apart Herman now that he has apparently signed his new UH deal. Several are saying he should have cashed in while his stock was high. UH will be good again next year so it's not like it is going to take a hit. If he went to South Carolina he was probably going 4-8 next year and his stock would drop like a lead balloon. Even after all the national media said he had no interest in South Carolina they though they were a big enough job to pull him. Better go ahead and introduce Muschamp.

He has an impressive class coming in and doesn't need to jump for just any job. Destination jobs will open up as he builds his HC chops.

South Carolina will be a tough job.

If RR takes it they are going to pay and be required to be patient. Very patient.

These last couple of pages have lightened my load as a Christian. Thanks, VNRF!

To those questioning their call and mission in life - know that you are not alone. As an old guy that has been through much it still comes down to being still and knowing that He is God. Lay it all in His hands and trust that He will lead you and use you as He desires. That is enough. Use the talents and spiritual gifts you have and be about His work every day no matter where you are and what you are doing. That starts with your preparation, family, friends, church, current occupation, etc. Seek out opportunities and network like crazy. Be the salt and a light. You will wake up one day and realize God put you exactly where He wanted you for good reasons - and it will probably be doing things you never dreamed you would do. As flawed as I am, He covers for it and still uses me.

So to keep this post on Vol football - as much as my inner desire for the team to succeed overrides my good sense, Butch has brought such stability and pride back to the program that I cannot give up on him and his staff becoming what we all envision. I believe we are making our way out of the valley toward the mountain top to topple the giants that reside there. That's what Volunteers do.

You can't start interviewing coaches until the regular season is over. It's not like they've had 50 days to hire someone.

Agents can talk. Fuente was announced less than 24 hours after his last game and Beamer announced his retirement 2 weeks after HBC. Missouri also had less time and they have already hired a replacement.

Lol at even bringing up championship game Temple is in.

No one cares.

If you can't get to the playoffs then why play it?

Guaranteed the dome will be at capacity tomorrow. That game matters. Always

There'll be better games at the dome next week, I think. That's the Georgia high school championship games for 2, 4, and 6A. :good!:

A lot of in-state skill position talent in the 2017 class. Which of those kids do we have a good shot at? Would love to see us snag the Top 12.

2017 Top Football Recruits in Tennessee

I'm not sure Grey warrants that ranking.

Said it over and over Stevens will be LSU. He decommitted last week but nothing has changed according to a dad of an Oakland player.

Higgins film is amazing.

Gentry Bonds didn't have a huge year. I was kinda down on him until the playoffs. His game against Bradley Central was unbelievable. Tons of coaches from big schools in attendance (Clemson, Ms St, Ky to name a few). I'm sure his stock goes up. Florida has been in his ear for several weeks. Not sure they've offered yet though. Jr is doing his part here.

Ziti was right fans love splashy hire names. Auburn and even UT under Kiffen to an extent are examples that steady programs (Pinkel as example) are better long term.
Part of why I think Odom could end up being a really good hire for Mizzou if he can lure a good OC. HE'll have time there

They aren't 100% sold either. I think they expect to get beat tomorrow. My boss is a Hawkeye, and I think he has been expecting to lose every week.

Most Iowa fans ice heard from are pretty much just along for the ride at this point. Even if they get blown out in the next two games, it will still have been a great and enjoyable season for them.

Exactly. He's in an enviable position at a school like Houston where he can recruit much better than most schools in his conference. It's looking like the Texas and maybe even the A&M job could be open in the next 2-3 years. Why not gone your skills as a HC and wait for a better job than USCe? Even if his next two years aren't as great as this season, a better position will open up for him.

Plus, Texas is obviously where Herman is most comfortable. Why move to the east coast right now?

Last years championship games only saw 1 game sold out. Of course it was the SEC

The most glaring one was the PAC12.

Under 50k showed up to see a heisman trophy winner and #2 Oregon with a capacity of almost 70k. A hell of a lot of unsold tickets

Ranking CFB Conference Championship Games by Attendance

The poor championship game attendance is a product of the new college football landscape. The SEC title game always made a lot more sense than the others due to geography. It was always going to be a manageable drive for at least one of the teams playing. Other conferences can't say that. Now that conferences have intentionally become more spread out in an attempt to expand their TV footprint the issue is even worse. If we ever see a Missouri / Texas A&M SEC title game that game's attendance might even be light.

The easy fix is to have it be a home game for the higher ranked team or the team with a better conference record. A playoff contender could be asking their fans to travel to 3 different neutral site games. That's ridiculous to me. College football teams have some of the best stadiums and atmospheres in all of sports. And they refuse to use them for the big games. Bizarre.

I have asked my boss every week how he thought they would do that week. Same thing every week. Not sure X team always plays us tough. A couple of times I asked why he thought they were doing so well. He said somewhat soft schedule, o-line better than expected, etc. It's funny because they wanted ferentz (sp?) canned after last year. Also told me he was cautiously optimistic a couple of times as well.
