People could just as easily starting driving over pedestrians with their cars. We gonna outlaw cars at that point?

Awesome, another stupid slippery slope argument. Almost as dumb as "PEOPLE ARE GOING TO START MARRYING THEIR TOASTER NEXT" when it comes to gay marriage.

Actually it wasn't that at all. He was using a clearly stupid extreme to point out the logical fallacy of blaming the weapon rather than the wielder.

Law enforcement stating this couple was "well funded and supported"

Terrorism or hate crime?

It was a Christmas party. There were 600+ people in the building but they focused on this party and left.

Here's my theory

They were planning a huge attack with explosives and weapons.

Something at the Christmas party prematurely set the man off and he went home to get the wife to attack in the way that happened

Seems like this wasn't as big as they were planning with the house being full of explosives

Archie Bunker said it best, "Would it make you feel better, little girl, if they was pushed outta windows?"

As for what I'm carrying, it varies:

Bersa Thunder .380 (damn thing is the handgun equivalent to a 1980s Toyota truck with a 22RE, can't be killed and will shoot anything).

Taurus TCP if I'm in gym clothes or scrubs

Taurus PT111 G2 9mm.

I'm well aware of Taurus' "reputation" but they've both been EXCELLENT guns for me.

Couple Glocks, Rugers, and a lone Beretta at the house, wife carries an LCR or the Bersa.

Anybody ever heard of David Goggins? That dude is unbelievable. Somebody should book this man for the next motivational speaking event.

Every mass shooting is terrorism. The shooters, bombers, whatever don't have to be middle eastern for it to be terrorism.

As for guns, the best advice I can give is know and respect your weapon and make sure if you have a family, they do too. Negligent discharges happen far more often that things like this so for the 99.9% of the time that you aren't using your gun in self defense, make sure that it is protected in such a way that accidents don't happen. Be aware of the risks and only carry if you know what you are doing and are prepared to discharge your weapon.

True, when you're caught in the middle of a shooting it matters little what the motive is. In the moment it is unimportant. However, it's important to identify and acknowledge the reality of the situation at large as a people. There's a difference between Islamo terrorism and everything else. The failure to admit that is a big problem in and of itself.
To your advice, I am indeed well versed in safe firearm operation and handling. My wife, however, needs serious work.

Listening to the police press conferecne

I am convinced this was a case of work place violence perpetrated by 2 extremist terrorist that weren't disciplined enough to wait to carry out their planned attack which was much bigger with explosives

We agree. The armory in the apartment probably came from the terrorist network. They probably had bigger Paris type plans, but got sidetracked as you suggest.

So does that not tell the whole country something important? They are here. They are armed. They have plans. Better be about addressing the issue.

Paris bombed, raided mosques, and manned up.

Our president: "umm, it could be a terrorist attack, we don't know, ummm. Stop guns!"

I mean anyone can go to the store and buy that stuff.

You and I tend to see things the same way on issues such as these. People hate and get violent. Doesn't mean everybody, but it doesn't take many to do a lot of damage. That's just the way it is and has always been. The issue is that the weapons can do more damage faster than ever before.

So an unarmed public is nothing more than sheep being led to the slaughter at at time of the butcher's choosing, or, will have their every action controlled by the threat of the butcher.

Signed,
TN Handgun Carry Permit holder

Mine are Glock 43 and DB 380 for carry. My wife insists on me carrying. She doesn't, but can handle a shotgun. Home defense handgun is a S&W .357. Even our adult daughter, who is married to a deputy, is permitted and carries a Ruger 9mm.

Has it been reported who bought the Ar rifles legally?

I know it was reported they we purchased legally but not by the gunmen

I highly doubt we will ever know that information. For example, could you foia the Illinois State Police and find out how many guns I own and when I bought them? I doubt it.

Yes you can easily find out who initially bought them

Background check will show

Oh, I agree. Along with the IED's. But the point is somebody stocked them and there is every reason to believe it was through aliases used by other parties aligned with the cause.

OK, about weapons being too easy to access and/or too plentiful. Name one thing that the federal government does well. No hacking into, no thieving wasteful spending, no lying, whatever. There isn't anything. I trust my fellow Americans in combination with law enforcement to handle their affairs better than anything the feds do.

I never said I had a problem with an easy access to weapons. Just cause some folks can't be responsible with them doesn't mean I need to get punished for it.

Mass shootings are a mental problem, whether it be through a twisted ideology or just plain crazy. These are the problems we need to address, not guns.

Interested in responses here as it seems we have some serious gun owners here.

I will start by saying I probably own more guns than a large majority of people here and would bet I have killed more animals. I am a hard core right wing republican BUT

I would be willing to support gun control that completely eliminated all assault weapons(I know that is next to impossible). If there was 100% certainty that was the end of all new gun control legislation

I once owned 2 different assault weapons and while I enjoyed shooting them they didn't improve my life in any real way.

Guns aren't the problem here but the assault weapons are making the casualties much more significant

I am willing to give that right up to save some lives but that is where I draw the line.

Does that make me a liberal and need to turn in my man card??

It's too easy to get an AR on the black market. If I could snap my fingers and make all the AR's in the world disappear for the greater good, yeah I'd do it. Unfortunately the reality of an assault rifle ban will just mean law abiding citizens can't get them whereas those willing to go into the black market can.

Not at all, Bruin. There's room for adjustment if there is a lockbox on it. You know, kind of like the lock box on SS and Medicare. lol. No way, not in my book.

I am right there with you as a staunch conservative. My concern, which is obviously yours, is the slippery slope and giving in to anything. The 2nd Amendment is clear. It was also to protect the citizens from governmental tyranny. Anybody that denies that denies factual history. The IIC clearly has no regard for the Constitution and BofR. The Supreme Court has backed him in many issues that cross the line. Corruption and total incompetence is rampant throughout the federal government, which has exposed our secret information to enemies world wide.

You don't have to be a conspiracy theorist to see the group behind the scenes pulling strings in many nations to tighten their control. Such as subjecting our military to world court jurisdiction. The IIC, Mrs. Rodham, Swift Boat Kerry, etc. are all in support. If they are for it, I am agin it.
