Does UF have any interest in Riley Ferguson? I thought they were recruiting him at one point, and there's really nothing more Tennessee than him coming off the bench in the 4th quarter and beating us at Neyland.

They recruited him lightly. May pick up soon.

I imagine it has been very hard on him.
Imagine the guilt he feels.

Might be in his best interest to start fresh somewhere else

This. And UF fans are relentless at being aholes.

Imo I think Nac wants to move on from Grier and Harris. Harris is Harris. A warrior and well liked but he should never be playing QB at UF.

Grier is another story all together. Talented but comes with baggage. Ego, maturity issues and his family are a handful according to some.

Mac wants his stamp on the program.

South Carolina is all over the place. They are apparently talking to Shane Beamer now.

Shane Beamer's resume is significantly more impressive than I ever would have imagined. He may not be an SEC head coach yet, but he's gotten to coach under a few great head coaches aside from his father.

Ferguson is a big target for Arkansas State. He is visiting this weekend at AState's last home game against TX State.

@GradickSports: 2 GOP sources say Georgia campaign strategists are trying to recruit @MarkRicht to make a run for Ga Governor in '18 https://t.co/McdfMZJtOK

The possibilities for Mark Richt are literally endless. The guy can have almost any job he wants right now. Strong indication that this is going to massively blow up in UGAs face.

Honestly though if we would have held on against Oklahoma Florida & Alabama, we'd be 11-1 sitting what, #2 in the country behind Clemson? Arkansas is the only team that outplayed us imo so still chalk that up as a loss.

And say we still lost to bama & finished 10-2 we'd be maybe #6 ahead of Stanford?

It's interesting that Miami is drawing the attention of coaches who are considerably better than the guys we "realistically" had a chance with in 2012.

They have Richt, Schiano, Mullen, and Davis on the hook and could probably choose between any of those guys. That's with very little fan support and crappy facilities.

We got turned down by Fisher, Gundy, Strong, Fedora, and Golden before settling for Butch. Massive fanbase and top-notch facilities.

I guess the UT roster was in such bad condition and the schedule so daunting that no one really wanted to deal with it except Butch.

Academic qualifications are lax at Miami also, a lot easier to get kids into Miami instead of TN.

Still hard to believe that Oklahoma & Alabama are probably the two best teams in the country & we should have beat both of them.

I don't find that hard to believe. I think we also have one of the best teams in the country. The breaks just didn't go our way. We played conservatively against Oklahoma, but they were helped massively by some questionable calls by the refs late in the fourth quarter. Bama just beat us in a dogfight. I seem to recall Martin slipping while defending a pass late in the fourth - if he doesn't slip, maybe that last drive by Bama turns out differently.

We have an awesome team and the future is very very bright.

Reality is that Miami is above us in the pecking order. It's as simple as that. That's a program that with the right guy can do everything Bama has done over the last 8 years and more.

Yeah maybe hard to believe was poorly worded. I definitely think we have a top 10 team. Just crazy to look back what the season could have been. We outplayed literally every single opponent except for Arkansas this year.

Common denominator for Bama and OU losses: their d-lines blew us up at critical times. There are different ways to analyze this. Solving this I judge is a major key moving forward. These were not average d-lines.

It's all about timing. Life is about timing. We just had our worst stretch in school history with a bad roster. Richt just got fired, Schiano is not working, and Mullen has been at MSU for 7 years losing his best QB. I don't consider Davis a legitimate candidate. If so, they are dumber than I thought. Richt wouldn't take it if he was still at UGA, Schiano wouldn't take it if he was coaching the Bucs, and Mullen was a candidate last time and probably wouldn't take it if he were 3 years in at MSU. JMO.

Hmmm, when I was on the hill, we had a player who could get into Miami and couldn't get into TN or anywhere else in the SEC. I think at the time they could allow Prop 48 players and the SEC couldn't.

Maybe qualifications have changed in the last 20 years.
