Has anybody seen the recent tweets by @FeelsLike98 regarding players leaving? That's a bit concerning. Someone gave him a list of North, Kamara, Kendrick, Reeves-Maybin, and Sutton. And FL98 replied and said that 3 of those guys were gone from what he had heard.

I think Sutton has been gone since day 1, but no one wants to hear that. JRM will definitely dip his toes in the water, because that dude is a stud, but I think he's a competitor and will be excited to play for this team next year. Kamara isn't ready to bolt either.

Kendrick could leave and North could leave. That wouldn't surprise me.

Great post.

My expectation for Dobbs next year isn't to improve his passing that much (maybe 25+ extra yards per game), but rather to further reduce his interceptions and fumbles.

He will be very much like Connor Shaw was for South Carolina in 2013. Throw for around 2,300-2,500 yards, 20 or so touchdowns, and fewer than 5 INTs. Add in another 500-600 yards on the ground and 10 touchdowns. Just a brutally effective QB who doesn't put up flashy stats, but can always make plays when it counts and never hurts his team.
Good comparison. Dobbs is the better runner and Shaw was a better passer imo but both were great gamers.

I could see Virginia hiring Mark Richt

Would be a homerun for both sides. All they want is someone good enough to get them to a bowl each year and he could go somewhere without expectations and pressure. Not to mention, he'd recruit the Tidewater area great.

Recruiting the Tidewater will be Fuente's greatest challenge at VT. That is where all the players are in Virginia.

If Azzani is let go and Butch brings in a more complete WR coach, then all the receivers could turn their game around. They all know how to block better than running routes, shed DB's and catching. Major upgrade needed for the WR's.

I think most of the other guys do pretty well. A lot of it is on Dobbs and his accuracy, or lack of. But when he delivers it on target, you need to come down with it, which I think most of the other WRs do.

With so many elite corners coming out, Sutton staying wouldn't be crazy. I'd have said it was crazy to start the year.

Thinking back on this regular season a bit this morning...

Tough losses for sure early on. At some point this year we were sitting with a 2-3 record in the 2nd quarter against Georgia down 24-3 with Bama looming ahead.

This season could have spiraled, and nobody would have been surprised. It didn't and we finished strong. Heck of a job by the coaches to keep this team focused and on task. Butch never let them believe they were what their record said they were.

Also Dobbs staying healthy over the past 5 games was huge for this season. I know everybody thinks Dormady is the greatest, but he's a freshman and he would not have been ready. He probably would have cost us at least one of those games down the stretch, maybe more.

Our backup QB situation was unfortunate going into the year. It is absolutely HUGE that Dobbs stayed healthy. Credit to him for getting his body prepared to withstand this season. That man has taken some shots this year and always hopped right back up like a warrior.

I'll never forget that play against Georgia where Hurd fumbled and they ran it back 99 yards and Dobbs chased Leonard Floyd all the way down the field and almost poked the ball out right before he crossed the goal line. Balls to the wall hustle. All out. Every play.

Dobbs represents everything I want my QB to be. He's the ultimate team player. He's a great leader. He's actually capable of being a great role model for young Vols all over the country. He embraces that and knocks it out of the park.

I wish he threw a little better. But I expect that he will take another step forward as a passer between now and next season. Regardless he just lead one of the better offenses in Tennessee football history. Points are points and Dobbs helped this team score lots.

I really hope we get the chance to beat somebody in a bowl game that everybody thinks is better than us.

Go Big Orange Forever

Nobody thinks he's the "greatest"...that's a silly generalization. Our backup QB situation was way better this year...unless you believe Peterman would have done better than he ever did for us...enter Pitt apologists. I remember before the season, all the experts vexing over Dobbs getting hurt if he "runs too much". Guy doesn't take direct hits... Kinda like Emmitt Smith. I think it would have to be a freak injury to take him out...if he does next year. Either Dormady or Jones will take better advantage of the passing game...once again, prolly won't find out.

I can see Sutton and JRM leaving with a strong bowl and good projection. Glad they are at least considering staying or seem to be.

North leaving would be meh only because of his injuries. Croom is in a similar camp. Would love to keep both but best of luck whatever they choose.

Reeves-Maybin mentioned at the post game press conference that he said he had tears in his eyes from his last game at Neyland.

North may quit due to injuries. Kendrick may transfer. Sutton may leave. I heard 50-50. Kamara will stay.

Kamara to the NFL? Seems a little like jumping the gun if he does

That's not entirely true about JRM. He said he cried for the Seniors. But you may be right. And that's a good reason to get emotional if he had already assumed that was his last game.

I wonder if the Kamara situation is similar to CP's a few years back...

Butch doesn't need any decent contributors transferring or going pro early. He needs them all in an attempt to meet the expectations that are already being put down.

2016 is definitely the proverbial "fork in the road" for Butch. No excuses.

Everyone on that list except Kamara sounds credible. Not sure where North would go...maybe FCS team that passes a ton. Kendrick's been recruited over...would be good depth...could see him and Sanders packaging to UTC. Kamara? Makes no sense.
