Limited number of attractive coaching candidates with ADs at an unusually large number of high profile schools jockeying for position to hire them. The best job on paper doesn't always win out. A lot of factors in play.

Seems pretty straight-forward to me. Unless, of course, UGA already has their man or knew they would have their man as soon as the position came open.

Richt was doing well enough that there was no pressing need to fire him, especially if the coaching market looked rough this year from UGA's perspective (i.e., potential for a bidding war or potential for getting turned down publicly).

They could have easily kept Richt through 2016, let him bring in another great recruiting class, and re-evaluate the landscape next November.

If CMR does coach the bowl game do they jump us in attractiveness for the bowl selection?

I could see the outback bowl all of sudden wanting them now

I don't see it. I think Richt will be old news by the time they are slated to play in a bowl game. By then UGA will have another head coach who will be recruiting his own players and building his own momentum.

Turnout would be nice in Athens, but not Tampa. I think most UGA fans will be ready to move on from the Richt era.

What's up with the barbes guy and not wanting to play him every year ? At central Florida? I'm lost somewhere in the discussion

Will be I interesting, as all of his assistants are jumping into new jobs. They're not going to wait around while all of this hiring is going on

Babers was the BGSU coach. They were easily the best offense we played this year and finished I think 3rd in the nation in offense. He was mentioned for Missouri, but looks to be headed to UCF.

Now that basketball season has started, Barnes will have a weekly press conference. I'm not sure if this is the regularly scheduled one or not, though. So essentially I don't have an answer to your question.
