Could be bad wrong, but I'd feel a whole lot better about Smart at USCe than Herman.

And if Miles were to stay in the SEC, I think Missouri seems like the best fit.

That is such a massive step down for him. He would be better served waiting a year if another opportunity didn' open this year and see what happens. Missouri is a disaster and the political situation isn't helping.

Time for picks. 54-34 ATS for the season, which has me at a .613 winning percentage.

Wednesday Lines per Vegas Insider:

Missouri at -14 Arkansas
Louisville at +4 Kentucky
Vanderbilt at -17.5 Tennessee
FSU at +2 Florida
Georgia at +5 Georgia Tech
Texas A&M at -5.5 LSU
Alabama at +14 Auburn
Clemson at +17 South Carolina
Ole Miss at +1 Miss St

My picks:

Missouri 16 Arkansas 24
Louisville 23 Kentucky 16
Vanderbilt 0 Tennessee 30
FSU 28 Florida 16
Georgia 28 Georgia Tech 31
Texas A&M 28 LSU 30
Alabama 38 Auburn 13
Clemson 30 South Carolina 23
Ole Miss 40 Miss St. 44

Good luck!

Next year you should have a thread devoted to this. Everyone can put in picks and keep a running tally.

I hate OSU also. I think they end up in a big bowl and get trashed. Baylor or TCU would be saweeet! Then they will get gutted by the attrition to NFL and rebuild next year. So they have that going for them, which is good.

I'm sure he's already visiting the Columbus doctors and they are telling him to get more rest and reduce his stress. He then goes home to his loving family and realizes he's not spending the time with them that he should.

What else am I missing?

If LSU dumps Miles, who else thinks they go through a 10 or so year malaise?

The Saban/Miles years have been the best in their history. They better be careful what they wish for dumping a guy with Miles' record.

If LSU fires Miles, any other Job he gets outside of USCw or Texas is going to be a step back. You've got a good point about the political situation there though. That could ultimately force them to have to go pretty far down shortlist.

He really HATES his family. Usually takes less than a year alone with them to realize it. :)

Does anyone see butch opening the starting job up in the spring? If our OL turns out, a QB ability to run won't be vital to our success. I'm not sure you can unseat the senior though. Experience might be more important than accuracy.

Dobbs has the team. He would have to perform badly to lose it.

I tend to agree, but we'll never win the sec without an accurate passer. Maybe he improves, but if he doesn't, you almost have to open it up

Until you're well into the season and things are bad, I don't see it happening. Unless one or more of the youngsters are clearly better in practice. Even then, you're waiving expectations of winning when you start over at QB. A better passer will land us better WRs also...delicate balance.

While Dobbs won't improve much in accuracy to ever justify Heisman talk, he is the leader of the team, extends drives with his legs, and will grow in managing the offense. The only open competition in the spring will be for the backup.

@Dave_Matter: Freeze points out the three exceptions to rough QB play in SEC: Dak Prescott, Brandon Allen and his guy, Chad Kelly

Intersting omission

Interesting inclusion of Kelly, rather than the omission of Dobbs.

As far as All-SEC QB's go, it's Dak, Allen and that's about it.

My 10 year old daughter got to go to the Vandy Women's game for Beta Club Monday morning. She is talking to one of her friends and tells her "I can somewhat root for the Vandy women in basketball but I hate their football team and anyone that plays for them, they are a bunch of crybabies." She hears someone laughing behind her. It is one of the Vandy football players, not sure which one, he looks at her and laughs doesn't say a word and leaves. I may have created a monster.
