Lol...click on this thread this morning and see I'm 3 pages behind (at 50 posts per page), so I'm thinking "wow, must be some juicy news that happened later on last night". Nope, just Bruin involved once again in another one of his useless "discussions". Hey Bruin, if CBJ stays on Rocky Top and doesn't take one of these big-time coaching vacancies, how about you take a long sabbatical from VN until your possible scenario plays out of CBJ leaving because this job is too stressful? Sounds fair to me.
I would rather make 3mil a year in the ACC than 4mil a year in the SEC.
Over the course of a career the ACC job very likely ends up paying more and it's at least partially a better quality of life
See Les miles when considering the shelf life of a career in the SEC. There is zero chance a frank Beemer coaches that long in the SEC
Successful coaches that believe they can win at the highest level are not wired like you. They want the big stage, the big paycheck, the spotlight, the big game, the best players, etc.
They don't sit around and think about which jobs offers 75% of the money with 25% of the pressure.
And that won't change what I am saying here is exactly correct.
We are 7th in the Sec pecking order. The Truth hurts
Does it really matter? As long as UT has the resources (no problems there, right?) and can bring in top recruiting classes (seems to be an attainable goal for Jones), whether some expert thinks it's a top 3, top 6 or top 20 job is immaterial.
Give me top 5 recruiting classes year after year, I'll let the other schools brag about where they stand in the SEC pecking order of best jobs.
No. I edited my post.
FSU to LSU is a lateral move at best.
And while FSU has an easier schedule it still comes with all the scrutiny and pressure of an SEC job.
FSU schedule allows for a much more relaxed state of mind. Preparing for wake Forrest and Virginia is a hell of a lot easier than preparing for ole miss and miss state.
Much much easier path to a playoff. I would take the FSU job all day and twice on Sundays over LSU regardless of how much $ the Cajuns backed up to my back door.
Meh
You make millions to do something you love.
People all over the world worry about making enough to put food on the table and a roof over their children's heads. That's pressure.
Those people don't get millions if they get fired.
I like Butch but come on
Ok. That doesn't change what I said though.
Now you are comparing two elite jobs. Coaches just don't move from elite job to elite job. Fisher not jumping to LSU doesn't mean squat. If Fisher was at LSU and FSU was courting him, he wouldn't make that jump either.
I happen to know for a fact that after the FL game Butch and his family were subjected to some really scary and messed-up stuff. Making a big salary might eliminate stress related to money, but there are other things in this life that can cause very real and intense amounts of pressure and stress.
