I'd be stunned if Richt was fired, honestly.

I think our best hope with Hardman is that the infighting rumors were real and Richt has to gut his staff this offseason. Depending on the timing of that, it could give us a legit shot at signing Hardman. Unfortunately, I think it's more likely that some people had short tempers after a few tough weeks. My guess is that it was overblown by the media, there are minimal changes to Richt's staff, and Hardman goes to UGA.

I'll say this, though: while that may be a bad thing for us in terms of landing Hardman, I think it's a good thing for us in terms of beating UGA for the next few years. Schotty and Pruitt don't scare me at all as coordinators.

Good post. I agree with about 98% of that.

The one thing I will say is that I view Pruitt as a good DC, but given the accounts of his toxic personality, he still might be a net negative on that team. The other thing here is that while Pruitt is a good DC, I don't think he's an elite DC. He earned that reputation from being DC of Florida State's 2013 national title team, but Mark Stoops deserves at least half the credit for that. UGA's defense has certainly improved under Pruitt, but we have at least four teams on our schedule this year with better defenses (Florida, Bama, Mizzou, Vandy). And you can't tell me that Mizzou and Vandy have more talent on D than UGA.

Schottenheimer, on the other hand, is the very definition of mediocre. I know UGA does not have top-tier QB like it normally does, but no excuse for that offense to be so dismal this year.

Yes there is. The biggest production on uga offense is out for the year.

But their offense still shouldn't be that bad even with the loss of Chubb. They replaced him with a 5 star. Plus, their lack of a plan for their QB's over the years is astonishing for a school like UGA. Had to play Tereshinski, Cox, and Lambert and then have to turn around and replace them with freshmen (which is what they will do next year).

Their passing game is just not good.

Pruitt's defense has really only faced 2 good offenses this season - Alabama & Tennessee. Alabama was playing their backups in the 4th quarter and we hung 1/2 of 1000 yards on his troops that afternoon.

1 Chubb is a heisman candidate kind of player

2 a running back with heisman potential does wonders for your passing offense no matter how mediocre it is

3 stars smars. 5 star players have nothing against the game changing potential of a heisman candidate.

Without Chubb, uga is a completely different team. Pass offense struggles because the run is easier to defend, gettin less production both on the ground and in the air. Coaching is partly to blame, but they just aren't the same team without chubby.

They had played slaw before Bama. In the past, their OL opened large holes. I think Chubb is great just like Leo down by the Bayou. Bama pretty well stopped them with Chubb. Their passing against good defense was going to struggle with or without Chubb.

that is a bad example... you can't hang your entire record on ONE offensive player, even if he is a guy that puts points on the board.... if that were the case with all of our injuries, we could be making excuses to be in the playoff hunt if not for injuries...

So, what you are saying is that without a Chubb, there is nothing to get excited about. twss

Their QB is Grayson Lambert, and they started Faton Bauta against UF. What makes you think anyone could make that much better? Sure, in 15 years as a coach, you will have a year or two where you have to plug in a mediocre QB, but Richt has done it 3 times only to follow that up with true freshmen. I don't care how good you are, freshmen will take some time to develop in the SEC. The plan has not been good.

Chubb is certainly a big loss, but Richt has had good offenses in the past without "Heisman level" RB's.

Interesting comment by Hardman on Twitter this afternoon - says he has not silently committed to anyone and is not going to. This is a change of plans. Now says he will announce on NSD. Also said that his decision is getting harder.

He is heading to Michigan this weekend for the OSU game.

I've quasi kept up with this thread but after so many posts I've lost sight of some of them I believe. Has Hardman put out a top 3/5 type list with us on or off of it, or publicly said "this team is leading", etc type stuff with regards to UGA or us? Or has all of this news been more insider info type of stuff? Just curious, this is my personal number 1 target I wish the vols could land, seems like we usually miss on this type of guy though lately.

He is just playing everyone right now.
