Any coach that doesn't keep him at LSU shouldn't be the coach at LSU. It will probably be a prerequisite to keep Wilson amyway

You would've thought Chavis was up there in importance as well but yet the AD let him get away with some idiotic posturing on his contract.

You guys know it's still possible to have under achieved and still improved at the same time right? There are reasons to be excited about the future and reasons to be cautious about the future rn IMO.

Exactly. Not as good as it could be, but vastly improved since the firing of the previous coach. Emphasis on vastly.

Looks like OSU is gona have a bunch of guys jump to the NFL. MSU and Oklahoma on the road next year. Rebuild season. Love it.

I agree that we've underachieved BUT we've underachieved with freshmen and sophomores for the most part. This team likely gives Jones a wider margin for error next year. IDK that the staff will ever be better than mediocre at in game decisions but with enough talent and experience you have a much wider margin of error.

Agreed. The loss of Curt hurt us badly early in the season as well.

Offense is going to be a buzzsaw next year. Defense is going to be great if Sutton and JRM stay.

We might actually beat a team worth a damn!

The defense, running game, and special teams have improved to top notch level. I've been very critical of the passing game, offensive scheme, play calling etc but now I'm starting to believe it's not play calling philosophy but hand cuffed play calling to an extent to play to Dobbs strengths and weaknesses. His strengths are running the read and making plays with his legs, hitting some timely passes when needed and managing the game with minimal mistakes. As soon as QD (only a couple times I know) comes in we go down the field. I think Butch's offense will always take on the identity of his QB. From LaFevour to Calaros to Worley to Dobbs, who knows what it truly looks like. I cant think of one game that the offense cost us this year except maybe Arkansas. So I think it's ok to say Butch has done really well so far.

I think Dobbs inability to throw definitely handicaps the offense. I think play calling has hindered our offense. We make it harder than it needs to be imo.

Good stuff, guys. You both have centered in on the reality IMO. Really the only thing left to determine is how a person thinks it ought to be. Since we have no input into UT's thinking it really doesn't matter except to make us feel better.

Butch stated when hired he could go different directions with his offense based on the QB. We have seen that play out as true. The problem I see is he is inflexible with the players he uses and adjustments. If the opponent has a handle on what he wants to do and the players he wants to do it with, he will not change and adapt unless forced to do so and usually it is too late to impact the outcome as our 4th quarter performance has demonstrated all season. That is the biggest thing I see influencing outcomes.

The second is the play calling. Dobbs has been hurt so his mobility suffers. So deboring calls roll outs and sideways throws that require mobility. That's OK a couple of times to keep the D's honest, but good D's will win that battle more times than not once they get the pattern of the OC. Trust me, most of us even know the pattern of the OC. Add in the mobility issue and it is worse. The pass plays are charted, the success rate for between the hashmarks throws by Dobbs has to be greatly higher. But they call 1 out of 4 or 5 throws over the middle. Maybe it is fear of interception. Why? He's not thrown many at all. But if the middle of the field is wide open, as it is virtually every game, why are you not going down the middle with seams, slants, digs and skinny posts until the D's adjust. The completion percentage is high and you can use more play action with two high quality RB's that the D's have to cover. It makes zero sense to me. But I am sure they will claim to have their reasons for it.

They better have Jimbo or Chip Kelly already inked to fire Les.

Going to miss the crazy sob. He was great for the SEC.

With that out of the way, come on down
F Franks, Pettigrew and KFulton. May even S Smith visit now. Lol

I agree HG, I just can’t imagine who they have in their back pocket already that would be a instant “homerun” hire and upgrade.

I do know that not having the Mad Hatter and the HBC in the SEC next year really will suck.
