Many of us are just weary of the 'could or should have beens'.

Yes, we know the players need to learn how to close out games. However, there are obvious coaching reasons that other teams are scoring more points than our guys in the second half. To ignore that fact is sticking your head in the sand. We want Butch to make the changes he needs to make within himself. He will need to do so for the team to meet high expectations next season.

Anytime you go 10-1 and play in the SEC you've accomplished something regardless of the circumstances. Is McElwain the next great FL coach? Who knows, but you have to respect what he's done this year. My OP had more to do with his press conference. He was very honest. He called his players out without totally throwing them under the bus. And he wasn't happy with the game and didn't come into the PC confrontational saying he wasn't going to apologize for a win.

I am pretty sure that McElwain said he wouldn't apologize for the win over Vandy, so he couldn't use that again. He said that championship level teams have games (like Vandy) and find ways to win. I agree that he has done a fantastic job. No complaints about that. But if you are trying to say he is taking a different (and maybe better) approach than Butch, McElwain did something very similar after their Vandy game. Maybe his personality is more laid back, and it seems more honest.

Maybe Peyton will Volunteer some time next year to work on Dobbs mechanics. A day a week shouldn't be to demanding cmon Peyton.

Looks like he'll have a lot more time on his hands next year. It'd be ideal for Manning to teach Dobbs on so many mechanics. Really hope that happens. Sucks to see Peyton retire, but it's definitely time to.

I'm not really comparing him to Butch as far as how he's coached. McElwain comes across more seasoned in his PCs than Butch. Butch is always defensive. He blew a gasket when Hubbs asked a very benign question. I think Butch could gain some real estate with some fans if he'd own up to some of the mistakes, his, his coaches, and players.

Butch is still a relatively inexperienced coach. Only six years as a head coach prior to coming to TN. I think he's got a lot of growing to do and I think he will, in all aspects of coaching.

Iowa as the No. 3 team in the AP. SMH.

I guess it's the jealousy speaking but they're in for a rude awakening. Either Mich State or Bama in the playoff is going to absolutely mess them up sideways.

I agree to a certain extent but his prior 6 years don't compare to coaching at TN. I think he's gotten a pass the last two years and now fans are expecting results. This criticism he gets is uncharted water for him and he's feeling his way around.

This is his 9th year as a HC. Is that really inexperience?

They'll lose the Big Ten championship game and not make the playoffs.
