What's nice is that we aren't just beating these teams, we are leaving them in the dust from a roster and talent standpoint.

Mizzou loses 21 seniors on a probable 5-7 team. It won't be easy for a new coach. Unless the new coach can recruit, I see them being average for a while.

Despite all the squabbles here and there over the scheme, playcalling, and conservative second-half philosophy,, we are legitimately an "ideal Butch Jones QB" (see: Dan LeFevour) away from being playoffs-bound, or at the very least a very strong threat to beat Alabama in ATL. Probably a decent WR coach away as well, but that's not quite as important.

I love Dobbs, and he's absolutely the best option for this offense right now, but we leave probably 2 TDs on the field every game with him.

At what point do we talk about development?

Development of winning more games than last year?

The bottom line is that Dobbs gives us a running ability more than many other QB's. At this point, we are sacrificing 10% in completion percentage for his running ability. It is what it is, and they have to call plays to his strengths. If he can somehow hit more passes next year, then we will be dynamic. Even so, if our defense makes 2 stops, we are a minimum 9-2 with this Dobbs.

Agreed, but imagine a Baker Mayfield in this offense. It would be unstoppable.

Some points from me tonight.

1) Entire defense played almost perfect, besides one drive when zoo scored

2) Special teams kept Missouri pinned back deep the whole night

3) Hurd played very well and got a new career high, but there are a few runs I wish he would've gone north and south

4) Kamara is consistently solid

5) OL was a mixed bag, I saw some good but a lot of bad as well

6) Passing game is a mess and MUST be addressed this off season. It really has not been good all year.

Overall it was a good win. I was pretty nervous about this one, but our defense completely controlled the game. Offensively, we ran well and did some good things. The biggest concern for me is Dobbs passing ability and the WRs ability to get open. Some major adjustments will have to happen to be SEC champions next year.

Mizzou wanted that game very badly, but this team is talented. 5 wins in a row to end the season. 6 wins in last 7 games, holding the lead against Bama in the 4th quarter. The sky really is the limit next year.

Next season should be special.

@brentdougherty: With 151 yards rushing tonight, @Vol_Football RB Jalen Hurd is 1,138 yards away from becoming the Vols' all-time leading rusher.

Yes. We have better players and the dregs of our schedule are really bad.

Maybe. But Dobbs is still a better runner. Not sure Mayfield makes that catch against UF and takes it to the endzone. But he does pass it better.

Let's hope JG makes it unstoppable. But we just have to hope Dobbs just hits a few more passes next year. If he hits just 3 long plays in certain games, it could mean 1-2 more wins. 10 wins should be attainable next year.
