Since we're being all philosophical this morning, and I've had my first cup of coffee...
It goes back to God and family IMO.
It's obvious our society/nation has been and is continually trying to minimalize God and His role. So I don't think I really need to expound on it here.
On family, my personal theory (probably controversial to many, but again i said it's a theory ) is that I think it goes back to WW2. The men went off to fight and, thus, left a lot of open jobs, and the women had to go outside the home and work to fill the void. And when the war was over, the trend continued of women working outside the home. And parents thinking "I want my kids to have it better and easier than me". Not necessarily a bad mindset intrinsically. But what/where is the focus?
Anyways, with a larger and larger percentage of women working outside the home, that had two ramifications: who is left at home to raise the kids and teach them and instill them with the important values and such? And so kids had more and more time/influence with outside sources. Second, it put women and men together for large portions of time daily at the workforce. And when you spend more time with someone from the opposite sex than your own spouse, unwanted consequences can come about. And I think marriages suffered because of it. And thus further brokedown the healthy foundation of family.
Then within one generation or so, we saw the rise of feminism. Closely followed by the "sexual revolution" and the "free love" movement. Which further devalued God's plan and values.
Disclaimer: I realize a lot of these views come across as sexist. I hope people don't think that of me. I think women are super important and extremely vital. Extremely. They can do things men can't. And as people and as souls, they are just as important as men. Not less important at all. But I do think we have different roles as a generality. And yes I realize it doesn't fit every situation. And things happen, that make people have to change from the plan/mold that would otherwise be best. I'm speaking in generalities, here. Ha.
And amidst this, too, LBJ brought in his social reforms, which would lead to huge harm to the family in minority communities,
Which we are still seeing to this very day, where so so many children are raised by single mothers, and without a full and healthy family unit. And there is an ever-repeating cycle of acceptance of government dependence as the norm.
Anyways, I hope I haven't offended anyone. Like I said it's a theory and you don't have to agree with me. Just putting some thoughts out there. And I hope I explained it well
Enough to make similar sense to others that it does to me.
Anyways. I think I need my second cup of coffee now. Ha
