Depends on what we lose and gain...a year? Some guys develop faster and create depth? As is, we lose the wrong player and we can't recover...it seems.

The depth is there at key positions. Idk you guys are kinda scary it seems. Let Alabama lose Ragland like we lost Maggitt. That defense would be hurting. We hurt but our guys stepped up too. Look at the WRs we lost(Croom, Howard, North, PWilliams). Who else can deal with that? Lost around 3 starting OL too. Team is still a good team.

Good?...never disagreed...great?...not yet. They lose Ragland and another 5 star sticks his head in...it wouldn't hurt them anywhere close to how Maggitt INITIALLY did for us...we had Vereen all along and it took way too long to get him up to speed...but he's there now...Taylor,Butcher,Sapp and the lot develop faster? Then we're close, if not there.

People saying the Bama vs LSU game matters must've forgot we played them two weeks ago. They didn't dominate the Vols. What can they point to as far as negative recruiting? Our whole team will be back since they were young and talented. We didn't get beat like LSU at all.

We were coming off a bye and they were playing their 8th game in a row. The power of the bye week in the SEC is very real

The talent was evident. Our D-line is legit. Barnett and Vereen destroying them was something that would happen again if we lined up next week. Justin Martin with more experience would've really been a big problem for Alabama. We looked physically better than any team that played them. A lot of other teams had bye weeks before then too.

I would love for Tennessee to get another shot at bamer. It has been a long time since I felt that way. I would like Tennessee's chances.

If this team wasn't up and coming like it is I could see him going a different direction. But with his dad the type of player that was a human highlight reel every week I think he would want to follow that. Any legacy kids worth a dam are a must grab for Butch.

I wouldn't mind playing them again either. Not sure what LSU was thinking lining up in big formations trying to run against that D. Got to spread them out.

LSU's problem is that they rely on out-talenting the other team, which they are able to do in most cases. Les Miles is not going to out coach many coaches hence you see why Nick Saban beats him year in and year out with comparable talent.

Just look at the situation and how many safeties we are offering. The staff has our safety already committed.

I actually agree with this.

It's clear that Hardman and Davis are still up in the air (or doubtful) because this staff continues to offer '16 WR recruits. But you don't see much at safety, despite the worrisome depth at the position going into 2016. Tells me that they feel pretty good about somebody.

When Donte Vaughn committed, a poster close to the situation suggested that Vaughn was told we were full at DB. It's always worth taking insider info with a grain, but in this case that lines up with what we're seeing.

We should be only be recruiting corners according to Coach Mathews. If they can't play corner or nickel then put them at safety.

I'm not a fan of this approach at all with the big RBs. With this approach you turn down a Jamal Adams of LSU at safety. Also who's confident in an EMoseley being our last line of defense on the backend especially in a physical game versus a power running team.

Yeah, I remember Saban even saying that he was taking some risk with 4 CBs in the game against bigger more physical RBs but I guess with a big 3-4 base D, it works.

Our problem seems to be tackling period at times. Do you think Martinez is going to get it done for us or should we get someone else for DB coach?

How's the secondary looked with Martin playing?

Martinez is far from the problem.

I guess Martin is looking better for sure. Mosley scares me to death on the deep balls. Why can't he be taught to look back for the ball? Is that too difficult to do? I'm not a guru. Just wondering what you think?

Not an expert, but from what I've seen the ability to turn and locate the ball while running full speed is hard to teach - either you have it or you don't.

Justin Coleman is the obvious example here. NFL corner in every respect... Except for finding the ball on deep routes. Still can't do it from what I've seen. He hasn't been burned for it with the Patriots yet, though.
