Who knows what the kid is gonna do but I doubt Alabama beating the breaks off LSU makes a difference. If he goes to Alabama it'll be about their overall dominance the last 7 years. Not one game.

I mentioned that game as part of a bigger narrative...7 years is pretty big. :)

Every year we hear rumors that such and such is recruiting for such and such program...last year it was Drew Richmond. :wink2:

Were there any rumors we would get Kyle Phillips at this time last year? I remember reading up until he picked the hat that it would be LSU or Ole Miss.

One thing I've learned not to question about this staff is recruiting. If Butch wants Nigel bad enough we're gonna get him. If you've noticed Butch still says we're recruiting well. That lets me know he feels good about where we are with alot of these uncommitted guys.

I think we close with 7 top 100 players:

Derrick Brown
Mecole Hardman
Kyle Davis
Landon Dickerson
Nigel Warrior
Jarrett Guarantano
Marquill Osborne

That should give us another top 10 class.

There were PLENTY of rumors that we'd get Phillips...he was as close mouthed as Warrior...so they weren't from HIM. Preaching to the choir about this staff...in fact you're repeating me a few posts back. :)

If he wasn't leaning towards us already we ain't done anything to tip him that way. Once again JMO...not done in any official capacity. I never underestimate this staff and it's ability to reel in talent. Btw ask around...I'm the furtherest from a "defeatist". :wink2:

Neither one because he has been on campus 6 times and has been to Georgia a bunch so he is going to take visits to places much further from home. Alabama is the one to watch here.

Check Henry's stats in both games.... Our D-line was dominant at times versus Bama. I don't know what you all are looking at. We held Bama to their lowest point total all year. You all like to give other teams a lot of credit like we are inferior or something.

People saying the Bama vs LSU game matters must've forgot we played them two weeks ago. They didn't dominate the Vols. What can they point to as far as negative recruiting? Our whole team will be back since they were young and talented. We didn't get beat like LSU at all.

We're a good matchup for Bama...and it showed. They've been more dominant and that's not me hyping them...that's me PAYING ATTENTION. Never been accused of marginalizing Tennessee before...kinda like it. :)

Don't know where you're getting negative recruiting vibes from me...I haven't trashed our team...I'm a notorious posiVol. My involvement in this thread stems from me thinking of this recruitment, getting a hunch and posting it. Never claimed any inside knowledge. We matched up great with Bama...better than LSU did...LSU is not a player in this recruitment except they were a highly ranked team that got obliterated by a team that we're competing with...for a recruit. Wouldn't be an interstellar stretch that he noticed our struggles against a lesser program and let that factor in his decision. Maybe it won't and he's already decided Tennessee...great...what I want. I'm predicting differently. I think we lose him.

So why would you factor Bama beating LSU into his recruitment? We're TENNESSEE not a better matchup but our team looked better versus Bama because of the players out there. Our CBs are better(with Martin starting), JRM is better than any LB they have, and our DL is better and more physical. Proof is in the pudding. And we're without Tuttle and Maggitt. Plus we'll be even better on defense next year. LSU looks like Tennessee towards the end of Fulmer's tenure. It's over for them.

Once again, LSU isn't a factor in the recruitment of Warrior...so it doesn't matter about their IMPENDING doom. :). In the present, they were an undefeated playoff contending team that was gang ambushed by the defense of a team we're competing with...for a prospect. We escaped a team that most likely doesn't make a bowl. We're GONNA be great someday...they're great NOW. A prospect looking at the situation right NOW, might notice that. I hope he signs with us. I predict he won't. :hi:

OVERALL TRAITS
Size-Strength-Speed
Has very good height and length on a leaner frame with room to add size and strength over the next few seasons. High-cut with a long stride that allows him to cover a lot of ground in pursuit. Plays faster than he may test. Explosive athlete.

Instincts/Recognition
Takes instinctive angles to the ball in underneath pass coverage and tracks it soundly defending the deep half . Understands zone concepts and consistently puts himself in position to defend properly or make a play.

Coverage Skills
Closes effectively on the football. Does a good job as a zone defender, keeps eyes on the QB with the keen anticipation and breaks on the pass sharply with proper angles. Shows the ability to get depth quickly in his pedal and on top of vertical routes as a centerfielder or hash safety. Does not have a lot of man coverage experience and we see tighter hips that will hinder his ability to mirror quicker college receivers out of their breaks.

Run Support
Will come downhill quickly and aggressively in the box and chase down ball carriers in the second level. A low tackler who is reliable in the open field. Will need added bulk to improve his consistency as a tackler and get over blockers in the box.

Bottom Line
Warrior has very few physical flaws at safety; size, athleticism, range and instincts are all at a top level. Scheme versatile safety, that could be an interchangeable free or strong and be ideal playing the hash in a cover 2 scheme.

Underclassman Eval
STRENGTHS: Has good height on a leaner frame with room to add size and strength over the next few seasons.
