Much of the last long touchdown drive against Florida was from the pistol, with Hurd behind Dobbs. It was a thing of beauty to see Hurd hit a hole at full speed and just move people. I wish they would run from that formation when they're trying to close out a game.
Dobbs is the most important piece to this offense. Hurd is definitely a huge piece though. I think a RB by committee approach could survive him. Without Dobbs this running game is dead. We wouldn't even make a bowl without him.
This.
Hurd is a complement to Dobbs, not the center of the universe. Dobbs is the center. JMO, but Hurd may want to be or may be lobbying for some changes in the plays/blocking scheme. Butch's system does not provide for the RB to be the feature player. As I posted before it is similar in intent and in some of the design to Ole Miss and Auburn.
So if it is still dependent on one player to perform well in the system, how is that different than UGA, Bama, LSU, etc.? Their one player happens to be the RB. The DC's just scheme to mitigate the strengths of the QB controlled scheme instead of a run game with play action scheme. Personally I hope Hurd can get some run game changes made. If he does maybe they can get a better balance in the attack.

There is a ton of doo doo to try a bring it over here. Summary: Hurd's not happy. Doesn't like the offense. Was promised some more pro set plays from under center and it's not happening. Tired of getting hit behind the line about every time. Tired of running left and right. Tired of not knowing if he's getting the ball untilDobbs gives it to him. General frustration.
A RB can get big yards in this system. OL will have to be better and the play calling needs to be less predictable too. All that 1st and 10 run play stuff gets the man teed off on.
They said I'd QB. I was supposed to be the starter. I was backup for 4 years and promised a job and now they have a freshman starting.
it's like kidsGuys, we only have two regular season games after this weekend.
That's crazy. Seems just last week we were salivating at the thought of fall camp updates.
Oh the gleeful banter about Khalil's thighs, Barnett reincarnated in Kyle, Malone poised to get 1,000 yards.... Heck... even Pig was still on the team back then... and Croom and North. Our WR unit was going to devastate.
😩
