Will Jalen Hurd make an All SEC Team?

 Isn't it a little past your bed time, kiddo? You can't just throw out a couple stats out of context and base your entire claim off of it. Alvin is a hoss, no doubt. But don't get it twisted, Jalen will play in the NFL for many years.

So better stats don't equal better player??

Hell no. Especially when you don't provide any context.

Hurd has 185 carries to Kamara's 58. 3 times as many. So yeah, it makes sense for Kamara's average to be a little higher, especially when he's a skat back. Jalen, being a power back, will naturally have a lower ypc. This in no way makes Kamara a better back.

Also, Jalen has 9 rushing touchdowns to Kamara's 4. Even if you want to add in receiving touchdowns (which is irrelevant to the argument), 2 for Hurd and 3 for Kamara, Jalen still has 11 to Alvin's 7. Not quite the 7 to 8 you implied.

If he were truly a better back, he would be getting the lion's share of carries, not Jalen.

Context is everything.

I like AK, but it's tough for him to run in our scheme (slow developing dive up the center's butt).

Look at these games taking out UK and BG type opponents

OK: 4 carries 4 yards

UF: 5 for 16 yards

UGA: 7 for 8 yards

70% of his rushing production has come against UK, BG and WCU. To say he's better than Hurd....not enough sample size to compare.

He definitely doesn't fit the slow developing dive get hit at the line and drag defenders running play, which is the staple of our offense.

You say Kamara is a scat back, then use the fact that he doesn't get most of the carries as opposed to a bigger, every down back as a point to support your argument. opposed context is everything.

Can a scat back not be the center piece to an offense? Perhaps, perhaps not. But if a scat back is not capable of being a center piece, would it not then hold that that particular type of back is incapable of being a "better" back than a power back? What is the use of a running back that is only capable of being complementary to another?

And maybe calling Alvin a scat back was a bit limiting to what he brings to the table. He is for sure not a Darren Sproles or Danny Woodhead type back, who I guess would be closer to a true "scat back." But I think my point of him being a smaller, shiftier back is still valid and would still result in a greater ypc than a power back like Hurd.

Well he is arguably one of the top 3 backs in the league. He should make somebody's squad, but we know who's going to be 1 & 2.

So Tim Tebow was never any good? How about Andre Ware? Ken Dorsey? Danny Wuerffle? Joey Kent? Marcus Nash? Kijana Carter? Brian Bosworth?

My God man you cannot be serious with this crap.

Those other guys were before my time but go and check out the roster of those Florida teams Tebow was on. They were filled with NFL starters. He literally quarterbacked an NFL team in college. Thats the only reason he looked good in college.

Once the talent level of the opposition matched Tebow's team, he was exposed as a bad QB.

So what? None of that changes this fact: Tebow was one of the best CFB players in the past decade and his stats prove it. Now that has nothing to do with his NFL tenure. We are talking about college. Yes he had talent around him, but he utilized it to the max.

He was never exposed as a bad QB in college and thats what defeats your argument. Saying someone who has a great collegiate career yet fails in the pros was never any good in the first place is ridiculous.

Hurd is good but he could be better if he was utilizied in a different system. Kind of like LSU's power run offense. Hurd is not made for the spread offense but still puts up great numbers. I'm not saying he's better than Fournette or Henry but he has the potential to be better than both of those guys I just mentioned. And I'll say it again, LSU and Bama's O-Line makes a huge difference for their running backs. Hurd has to occasionally fight for more yards due to an average O-Line at best.

The problem with this site. Any person can come on here and act like a Vol Fan while being an obvious troll from another fanbase and stir people up being a "vol fan that speaks the truth."

This. I've had that turd blocked for months. It's obvious what his/her/its agenda is.

Definetly doesn't follow Tennessee football

No, you don't nor do you follow this board. Hurd relative you just blasted. But, I do not feel what a kid may say should be posted on a board. We all get frustrated at times. These things could turn good fans against a player really quick when it gets out. vol74......not helping perception of Jalen with posting regardless if true.

Lmmfao Alvin Kamara- 6 yards per carry, 8 total touchdowns. Jalen Hurd- 4.7 yards per carry. 7 total touchdowns. Yeah Alvin isn't that good. Lmao. You sir need to research stats before looking like an idiot

We don't beat Georgia without some of Hurds pass protection blocks. Not just about getting in space. Pound a D with a big back helps long term in a game and many other aspects to consider. Don't throw out terms like idiot because it boomerangs nicely in this case.

sadly probably not. I feel Hurd is comparable to any other running back. He doesnt have the offensive line Alabama runners enjoy. I believe Fournette learned what it was like to not have holes to hit. I'm sure Hurd has had his share of that feeling.
Regardless, Hurd is a fantastic running back and I think next season our OL is great and our running stats will reflect that.

I was just wondering will he, looking at the numbers it seems like Fournette, Henry, and Collins all might be ahead of him. I know its insane but with an impending 1,000 yard season, I'm not sure their is room for him.

Not this year. He needs to fine tune a few things. He will be first team if he continues to work.

Alex Collins has the stats, but IMO he may not even be one of the top 10 backs in the conference

Arkansas opens up holes that I could push my grandma in a wheelchair through and pick up 5 or 6 yards

Some of you guys are just too blinded by Bama hate. Believe it or not its ok for Henry to be better than Hurd, but Hurd still be good. Hurd may wind up being better, but at this point in time hes not.
