Will Jalen Hurd make an All SEC Team?

Biggest thing I see with Hurd is he runs east and west to much. He does not have the speed to turn the corner and out run people. I don't care what they claim his 40 is. Jesus Christ Karama must be the fastest player to ever wear the Orange because he can turn the corner. Is he a 3.0 guy ? Point is Hurd needs to run it Up field not to the sidelines, especially to the short side. That's what will be expected of him at the next level.

I agree with this. And I love Hurd and he is one of my faveVol RB's already but he isn't as physical as Henry or Fournette.

Lol. How many times has Jalen turned the corner this year? And you don't think he has speed?

And since our whole offense runs east-west, if there are no holes to cut up through, explain to me how he's supposed to square up his shoulders and go north-south?

The fact is Jalen is as good, if not better, than anyone mentioned here. He's been limited a lot in this offense and behind this line. So, if this offense and play-calling bothers you, imagine how he feels on a day-to-day basis.

I'm saying his teammates were great. NFL doesn't make you worse. It just exposes people.

Again, what does any of this have to do with your statement about Hurd being so much better than Henry?

Also, plenty of guys have had awesome college careers and failed NFL careers.

He might. But how does that bolster your point that he is so much better than Henry in college?

I said Hurd was a better player. If you're simply talking collegiate production then it's self evident that Henry is more productive. But I argue his superior production is the result of superior teammates.

Put Hurd behind that Bama line and the media would be talking about him like they do Fournette.

Guys with great college careers that struggle in the pros were never good to begin with.

No. He was good. He fits under the injury exception. There are some guys who have their pro potential dashed by injuries.

There are also PLENTY of exceptional performers on the college level that for a litany of reasons don't work out in the NFL, just like there are a bunch of no names from college that are having nice careers in the league. Your argument that if they aren't stars in the pros then they were never any good to begin with is ridiculous.

Also, I guess you think Jason Swain, Montario Hardesty, and Casey Clausen weren't any good either. Should I go on?

Probably not. Having another running back on the team that's better then you won't allow that to happen. (Kamara)

Henry has skinny legs. If you watched more than the highlights you would see he gets tackled rather easily in the backfield when his o-line isn't opening up huge holes. Jalen on the other hand has huge thighs and a great leg drive. I rarely see one defender tackle him in the backfield.

And while I agree with you that Henry has better top end speed than Hurd, he doesn't accelerate through the hole with as much burst as Jalen. Did you see the acceleration Hurd showed on that run yesterday when he got the edge? Had the announcers gushing about his burst for such a large man. Plus they talked about how he runs low and with great pad level.

Henry doesn't do that. He runs high. Doesn't have great pad level. And doesn't show the same burst and acceleration that Jalen regularly shows.

Jalen will be a much better pro than Henry.

So Henry gets tackled "rather easily" while averaging 5.75 yds per carry with 17 tds....but Jalen rarely gets tackled in the backfield while averaging 4.41 yds per carry.... ok, got it.

Couldn't disagree with you more. Henry is a better, more talented running back than Jalen. He's a smoother runner, has better acceleration and top end speed to boot. Doesn't mean that Jalen isn't a great SEC running back because I believe he is...just means that Henry is elite and a notch above Hurd, like Fournette is.

Quick question. Last night Henry had 210 yards rushing. How many games has Hurd gone over 200 total yards? I know Henry did it against a great D line at LSU, but pick any of Hurd's games, even to the 4 crap OOC teams he's played so far.

Well, there's a good chance Hurd may not be coming back after this season, so we'll see how well Alvin runs up the middle next year.

Great back and definitely fits the system better, so we'll see.

Just like your agenda against Robert Nkemdiche, you're too beholden to box score stats rather than the eye test.

Just as Nkemdiche is going in the top 5 next year regardless of his box score stats, I guarantee that Hurd gets drafted earlier in 2017 than Henry does in 2016.
