Tonight's targeting call was 100 correct and was the reason they put the rule in.
From what I could see on Jumbotron looked like it was clearly with shoulder pad. I'll defer to what you and everyone else saw as I was on other side of field from play, and other endzone from Jumbotron.
I have no issue with the penalty. But overall there seems to be many more "phantom" targeting calls then genuine ones. NCAA/SEC, etc during the offseason either need to rewrite the rule to expand the wording to include everything that actually gets called (so players at least are aware of everything they may get ejected for); or have a serious recurrent training course with refs/replay officials.
I get its a very hard call to make on the field, but how some of these (not talking about tonight) get upheld after replay boggle my mind.
