Butch says it takes 6 to 7 years to build a program in the SEC

Butch has under performed by two games a year at UT, except for this year (fingers crossed we win out and he cuts his negative performance in half). He has a history of over performing by 2 or more games a season. Give it time.

Compared to Dooley, Kiff, and Fulmer's last couple years, even a 2 game under performance is as good as, if not better than, the best UT has been able to do over that time.

The first paragraph was the point of the post. It seemed like people were using your data to explain away Florida but going all abstract for the other losses where we had a talent advantage.

I am relying on your data to make the rest of this season pure enjoyment.:)

Did I see the ranking correct, Bama #1 for the past 7 years? And he still lost to ole miss. Saban had Bama rolling, then he hired Kiffen.
He needs to get Kiffen hired somewhere for Bama to win another NC. Kiffen is like a used car, everybody knows something is wrong with it, that's why it's for sale.

And they're still sitting in a position to be in the playoffs. Kiffin's not their problem. Bama set numerous school offensive records last year under him so I'd say they're fine.

That's weird. Didn't seem to take Freeze, Sumlin, Saban, McElwain, Malzahn, James Franklin, or Mullen that long.

Are you not seeing the 2005 season where Shula went 10-2?

Yes, and I was at the game in Tuscaloosa that year when they beat us 6-3. Does that erase the fact that he went .500 or less in his other 3 years or that Saban inherited such a solid team that he went 6-6 with a bowl win and loss to ULM his first year?

We like to think Butch is the best coach in America, so we don't acknowledge your post.

Maybe we should start judging and ranking past classes by how they turned out rather than how players were projected six months before their freshman year. Dooley classes were loaded with jucos, academically ineligible players, players who were kicked out, and players who otherwise displayed poor football character and weren't all about the team. Not to mention the bizarre class distribution where we'd have five receivers and no linemen.

Butch had a team without much talent outside of the senior/declaring class in 2013 and little outside of the freshman class in 2014. That's naturally going to create a longer rebuilding project.

Makes sense.

I guess coaching is underrated in vn. I wonder if there's any question what a coach like Saban would do with team 119

See, here is where your bias comes in.

What about South Carolina? What about Georgia? Dare I say it, what about Tennessee?

Dont the numbers you crunch show that those schools had superior talent to Missouri?

It wasn't one school Missouri bested to win the division. It was 6. Four of the six, based on numbers, have more talent than Missouri.

Yet, one of the schools is the reason Missouri won the division.

If you are consistent with your "analysis", you would conclude that several schools were the reason Missouri won the division.
Vol fans are supposed to be biased against Gators

I believe that's the point many are making. Mack Brown recruited top 5 classes for 10+ years and was the model of stability, yet TX has had .500 seasons for 2-3 out of the last 4 years.

In before someone wrongly says Foster fumbled the game away.

The prize is NC. Butch is talking about a dynasty program, competing for NC, year after year, reload each year not having to rebuild.

Why would he be talking about dynasty when he's only beaten 2 ranked teams in 3 years? I guess we should go ahead and get the player's ring sizes.
