I'll say this... the hour UGA departs with Richt, Butch will be on recruits doorsteps. It is a monster opportunity, and the if they go outside of the SEC/UGA tree, then there will be a relational curve the new coach must develop, while Butch has already been at work for 3 years.

Careful UGA...

It would be a long term move for them, not short term. If they have the right guy, it would be a smart move, but the right guy is hard to find these days. Just as us.

The margin for error in the SEC is tiny, and just like that, you can see two teams pass you up for 5 years or more. Look at Mizzou stepping in... Arkansas was strong under Petrino, but out of nowhere Ole Miss has overtaken them. Where did USCe come from for a few years?

I'm counting on this being the move that helps to cement our place above UGA. The chances are fairly good.

Patrick Towles sucks. That's what you expect of our QB?

No. But I've read some in here talk him up as a pro prospect and claim he's a better passer than Dobbs.

There is only 1 QB right now in the SEC better than Dobbs. And he's a redshirt senior. That's why I don't get all the criticism on here. Dobbs ain't perfect but he's better than nearly everyone else.

Criticism is sometimes amped when people are hailing someone as better than they actually are. A la Crowder. Dobbs has issues, so people mention the issues, then people like yourself get defensive and sing his praises louder than he probably deserves, so the criticism gets louder than deserved to match. That's just human nature, or "message board nature" in this case.

You can think Dobbs is a good qb, and at the same time say he has accuracy issues.

I'd definitely add Oklahoma and Texas A&M, probably add in Auburn. UCLA. TCU. All in that top 15 range, IMO.

Edit**- Completely forgot about Clemson and FSU. I'd put both over us right now, probably. We're right around 15 IMO.

TAMU is a top 25 job. They're overrated as hell but that's dying out post-Manziel. What they have going for them is a big stadium, great facilities and the desire to overspend. Texas recruits are a bit overrated as the Texas High Schools play a style of ball that produces speedsters and QBs but not much else AND the best still go to Texas. The biggest detriment is probably College Station itself.

If a coach wants to make coin go to TAMU (they have more money than sense) but it's not where I'd go to win championships.

GA's offense accounted for 9.75 pts a game in October and their only win was 9-6. Wow

They are missing their oline coach from last year. Last season, I could run for TDs behind that line and not get touched and I got no moves and no speed. This season their RBs are having to work and while they're racking up yards, once defenses have a short field on them in the redzone they stop them pretty easily. It's odd that UGA can't just punch one in but that's their problem.

Agreed, they are continually overhyped every year.

Riddle me this:

How many traditionally top programs have seen a successful or legendary coach go, and then hit a homerun on the next hire?

Let's set the mark at around 8 wins per season. Timeframe, around the last 20 years

Nebraska lost Osborne, hired a solid Solich, fired him way too prematurely, and has floundered.
FSU seems to have gotten it right from Bowden to Fisher
Florida had Spurrier, then Zook... finally got Urban
Tennessee... nuff said
Bama had a run of failures till Saban
OSU post-Tressell... did they fire the next guy before Urban, or was he just a short-term interim?
Michigan - Carr to Rich Rod to Hoke to Harbaugh.
Oregon - Kelly, and the jury is still out right now on Helfrich
Texas - Mack Brown and the jury is still out on Strong.

Who else do you have here?

Chatsports? Not sure how legit is saying Eason and Nauta (package deal evidently) are contacting other schools. Michigan, Bama, Florida, and Notre Dame. I'd rather they go to Georgia than Florida.

A lot of UGA fans are worried about Michigan. Eason did start following the UF OC on twitter yesterday and that pissed off a lot of Dawg fans.
