They are both so much fun to watch. I love that we have a guy right now we can even compare to CP in some way.

I wonder if SC will even let Berry touch the ball. I'd probably just kick it out of bounds and concede the 35. Return game is strong.

High and short kicks all day. No way I kick deep to 29. Sadly for him this will be the norm from now on.

Off topic, as much as I hate on sideline interviews and especially sideline reporters, Shawn Elliot gave one of the most productive halftime interviews I've ever seen. I wouldn't hate them so much if they were all like that. Talked about scheme and playcalling and which types of plays were hurting them and why. Was refreshing.

Agree.

Always looked like Patterson got his big returns by himself. He'd find a crease and then make something ridiculous happen.

Berry has been great, but this return team deserves a ton of credit as a unit. On that return against Kentucky, all Berry had to do was follow Abernathy down the lane and be fast. The blockers did the hard part; nobody even touched him.

Speaking of Abernathy.... Dude can fly he was just scooting down the lane.

I though he got shocked because college coaches yelled loud at him.

Allegedly that was Helm, although I think VN latched onto that rumor without any substantiation. Coach Cut yells just as much, so I've always doubted Helm was just getting his feelings hurt.

It would actually be a wise decision for coaches to kick out of bounds if they aren't 100% sure that they can kick through the back of the end zone on us. That is hilarious to me.

Guys, what if Tee and Peyton come home after this year?

That's the crazy thing, his average is up to the point you would be saving yards by just booting it into the cheerleaders every time.

EDIT: Mock beat me to pretty much the same point.

He absolutely can. Great athlete. Berry is a burner, but Abernathy has no problem leading for him on these returns.

Looking forward to seeing him at CB or Nickel for the next few years. I think we got a really good one.

The media ran a quote from Helm saying he didn't like the way the coaches talked to him. That quote later disappeared, so somebody preferred it not be out there. But local media types were talking about it at the time.

Then I feel that our chances at a SEC championship will be very high, but likewise the expectations of this fanbase will be extreme and thus create perhaps a toxic atmosphere that could lead to implosion.

Never saw a quote from him in the actual media, only from "insiders" on here. I did see a quote from Hendrix saying that, and it was removed shortly after. You sure there was one from helm?

Tee will be an OC somewhere, if/when he leaves SC. Can't see CBJ replacing DeBord, so it won't be here.

Maybe I'm wrong. Hendrix, Helm and Scott left around the same time. IIRC, Scott wanted to be closer to home and Hendrix was upset about PT and didn't like the way the coaches talked to him. I thought Helm had the same issue as Hendrix, but you're probably right-- I could be remembering the Hendrix quote. Sorry about that.

Got to give Patterson credit for his freakish athleticism, but Berry is so good at reading his blocks and never slowing down. I love when he brings it out. Most of the time I yell at guys for bringing it out from five deep. I practically beg Berry to do it.

Good point OG. The whole ST unit seems to be in really great form. Credit to the coaches.

And special teams as a whole had about as good a game as you could possibly ask for. Returns for touchdowns on a punt and a kick. Had a kick return tackled at, what, the eleven? Medley even hit his only try at 44, and it was pretty down the middle. Just about flawless.

Hard to beat the Vols when they can game you at each phase. Bring on VT with that special teams hoopla.

Elder deserves another title and more money after this year. He has quietly become one of our best coaches. I think this is the best special teams unit ever fielded at TN, minus our FG kicking woes.

PSA:

Any you guys that fly fish, got a warning for you.

TVA is not generating the Lake Appalachia turbines until March. However, they are still spilling the lake through the flood gates, and at a very, very high volume.

A friend and I had to be rescued out of the Hiwassee yesterday because we were in the middle of the river when the flood gates opened.

I know I've talked fishing on here with a couple of you guys. Just know, the low river looks great for wading with the minimum flow due to the lack of generation, but there's phasing of the lake spilling like normal. It goes from minimum flow to full flood gates with brown water in about 15 minutes.

We've both done a fair amount of wading and made 2-3 split second calls that ended up saving us. Missing either one of them might have really changed the outcome.

Thankful for God's protection and grace.

Peyton coaching here? I would have mortgaged my house to fund a bet against it before this season, but with his recent statement, this may have legs. Brilliant football mind... Thought he'd use it as an analyst post career.

"And there go my socks..."

We saw what you did there.:good!:

What recent statements from PM has people believing there may be legs to him coaching here in the near future?

When he said in an interview he could see himself coaching QBs at Tennessee? Don't have the link... But it's a true story.

Edit: It was on the Dan Patrick Show.
Neither seems out of the question. While speaking as a guest on Dan Patrick’s radio show on Thursday, Manning said he would never consider being a head coach, but that he would think about coaching if one opportunity opened up.
“Quarterback coach, I would (do it) at Tennessee…head coach, no,” Manning told Patrick, according to executive producer of the Dan Patrick Show, Paul Pabst.
