Do you feel like #12 & #13 and Abernathy are going to be ready to cover at a SEC Championship level with another year of seasoning? I'm only worried about our coverage going forward. I think we're fine upfront. A lot of times it seems our guys are in the vicinity of the play, but they can't seem to make the play. I like Jancek's scheme overall (do you?) but sometimes we just don't appear to execute it correctly. I was just wondering what you thought about our young cover guys and how you see it going forward.
In the past, I have seriously thought about writing a letter to the SEC office about its officiating product. I am an attorney, so sometimes I think about such things.
I was in the process of getting home and putting kids to bed, so I missed the Moseley call. But this isn't the first bad call and won't be the last. It has been building for a while, and I have said for several years that it is a shame the most powerful conference in the country can't find competent officiating.
That's a great way to put it. And all of a sudden the real Barnett showed up. Maybe coincidence who knows. I don't know how often they have a TE or RB chip on 9 at the start of the year.
Really though, everybody in the front 7 is playing with great instincts and speed. Foreman has been the weak link (see most passing TDs) but I absolutely don't mean to knock him he's playing his best and a great team player.
Pretty sure he was complimenting us...
Barnett has been around all year. OL have been tackling him all year too. He'd have around 20 sacks if he wasn't been tackled to the ground.
Martin opposite Sutton along with midseason rest has done wonders for him, I think. Their tight coverage has allowed a fraction more time for the somewhat less athletic members of our line (Vereen) to be disruptive from the opposite side, freeing him up a little bit from the double teams, holds, tackles, etc.
I love Martin and think he may be better than Sutton once all is said and down. He's a beast.
Next year when we have better nickel play by addition of Gaulden et. al. and are able to throw a mature and hopefully healthy Kyle Philips in the mix we will really start to produce well. Kirkland has already defeated his freshman wall.
The scary thing is that officiating is clearly getting worse across college football. The Miami player was clearly down on the lateral play and the officials spent 10 minutes looking at it and still missed it.
Evan Berry houses at least one more kickoff return. North Texas will kickoff to us at least once and he will have a great opportunity there. Plus, there isn't much team speed in our three remaining SEC opponents.

The refs have proved they just pretty much do whatever the **** they want and roll with it. No consistency. No accountability from the conferences.
It's unbelievably bad
