They are a top 25-40 team right now IMO. However they have raised their play from recent history and are beating teams they weren't beating before and that is the point.

I hope we can raise our play and beat teams we haven't been beating next year. That is the point and it's certainly wasn't that they are a legit top 10 team

I know a fair number of Iowa fans who do say getting their brows beat in from us has helped them. However, there is no denying that Wisconsin and Nebraska are down this year. That division looks A LOT worse when Wisconsin and Nebraska aren't decent.

I think you need a combination of fast, quick guys and taller, maybe a little slower but more physical guys. The taller more physical guys are usually more effective in the red zone. JMO

There was more than just the bowl game but it was a factor. That program was in disarray and I am sure had to make some serious selfevaluation and changes. That off season had some red ass in it and it's paying off now IMO

I just refuse to believe that all these highly rated receivers came in here and got slower, less physical, developed worse hands and worse technique. We need a real WR coach, not a glorified blocking instructor.

We were doing a decent job at mixing them in recruiting the problem is Pig reverted back to his Pig ways. Vic transferred to CAL. Jenkins had some knee issues that kept him off field and now he is at AZ ST. Bruce was kicked to the curb. Perry tore knee up.

I agree that the staff needs a Hardeman/Jones type more but we could also use a Davis still

Malone wasn't physical in HS. North/Croom/Williams/Jennings/Smith/Pearson are plenty physical. The problem is half that crew can't stay healthy, Jennings has never played WR until this year and Pearson spent an entire offseason in rape limbo

If by physical, you mean they will take on a block, then yes I agree. If you mean physical as in they will take on a smaller DB and manhandle him and fight for the ball in the air...then that's a load of crap. No one other than Jennings and occasionally North and Croom has showed any willingness to fight for a ball or get physical with a DB in the open field. I do agree with you about injuries, its been a disaster.

That post is above where I said it was a factor but not only one.

A red ass offseason isn't always bad IMO especially when a very good core team is returning

Has to be a factor for a hot commodity coach choosing his next job.

I heard an "expert" say that the USCe job was better than the Miami job. I can understand that stance until one considers this post.

What doesn't make any sense to me why they don't throw jump balls to Pearson. His Juco film is full of insane jump balls and he even has several sports center type practice highlights of doing it. Yet in a game we don't even attempt it.

Yeah that's crazy talk. Miami is a better job for a coach than South Carolina. Who cares about resources and fan base. Miami has a ridiculous recruiting base

And IMO a team that won a bowl has more fire and hunger the next season because they are now believing in themselves and have the hunger to destroy their opponents the next season.

Honestly I don't think it's crazy until you consider competition like you posted ealier.

If USCe was in the ACC I would take that job over the U. The carolinas and Atlanta arent bad recruiting areas either. South florida is clearly better though I agree

All of Bama's receivers are 6' or taller except for one. On the last drive Ridley, who's listed at 6'-1" out jumped our corner and I can't remember which receiver out jumped our other corner too for the other big catch.
