Article on ESPN says if Georgia loses to Florida, they should part ways with Richt.

I can't decide if I want him to stay at Georgia, or if Georgia can get someone better.

Tom Herman or Fuente there would be scary.

Weathered plays much more against spread teams and mobile QBs. Bet he plays more this week

Yea, but even against spread teams he really hasn't shown up this season. Hope he does now. He's got the speed to beat OL's and sack QB's.

Speaking of spread teams, hoping that doesn't mean more Jumper. Kirkland should have it down by now..

It appeared to me jumper played in the nickel at Bama. Did a good job in coverage the few times we were in that D

Wow, if Richt goes. What a crazy coaching carousel this year will be. Prime real estate in Georgia..

I saw that, too. Honestly it made me clinch up more. Kiffin didn't expose him, but I thought here's the time to do it. He did ok for the short period of playing time.

I think he has done a very solid job in coverage minus the holding calls vs OU. He just lacks any play making ability to bring down rushers. So He has to be a specialist but can help occasionally IMO

Give me Richt forever. The right guy could kill at Georgia.

I don't necessarily disagree with you, but it has never happened. Richt has had a pretty good run, and has had teams that were loaded, and UGA still never has been consistently dominant.

I think I'd be willing to roll the dice on the possibility that they replace Richt and go through their own version of our Kiffin/Dooley dark ages.

That's an easy one. I hope he stays at Georgia forever and ever and ever.

The one time I noticed him against Alabama, he was covering Ridley on a crossing route. I about shipped my drawers...luckily they didn't hit Ridley on the play. Whew.

They didn't hit Ridley because he was very well covered on that play

I hope these new ads that click on as soon as your finger gets near them, get Freak that new yacht and server he's been jonesing for! Amazon funded his retirement on me alone! :pinch:

Yep, can agree with that. It was obvious at the start of the season it was going to be crazy at MLB with a freshman and a walk-on. Thigpen has done a good job of settling that down as the season progresses.

I don't see some up-and-comer just waltzing into Athens and turning UGA into a powerhouse.

Richt is a good coach. Hell, he's a GREAT coach. He's 141-50. He has slipped slightly in recent years, but not to Fulmer 2008 level by any means.

A lot of people think that UGA is a guaranteed 10+ win team every year with the right coach, but that's not really true for any school. Things could easily be much, much worse for the Dawgs. In fact, I think that the chances of a non-established coach being an upgrade over Richt are very slim. And unlike Fulmer, Richt would have a ton of job offers if he got fired tomorrow and wanted to stay in coaching.

If UGA does make a move, they better be ready to hire their own Saban. Richt has UGA operating at about 85% of their potential, but there are a hell of lot more coaches out there who will fall short of that standard than there are coaches who can improve on his track record.

Precisely. He's been an underachiever, but has probably more often than not fielded the most talented team in the East over the last decade. Put a guy in there who can win big games and get his guys to perform consistently, and that team is going to make some serious noise.

Just throwing this out there but could you imagine if Richt jumped ship to South Carolina?

Don't see him moving over to S. Carolina. It'd be crazy if he did. I think he bails out of football all together. Be an analyst, regroup, maybe get back into coaching if it's the right job. Have no idea. Would love for GA to hire a bad coach, so we can grab all the best athletes from there.

I agree. Lots of openings this year already to compete with

I don't think it will happen but with the way this year is going I wouldn't count anything out. I do agree I think if he leaves on his own then he will get out completely for a couple years.

Either way I do see UGA hiring a Ray Goff type coach more than a Mark Richt type.
