Just heard Marcus Spears on Paul Finebaum say he thinks UK has the talent to play with UT this weekend. Wow. I highly do not think so.

They have a decent QB (Bray-lite). Good RB in Boom Williams. Good WRs that can get open but can't catch the ball consistently. And that's about it.

Just an observation. I would love for my kid to possess half the talent of Aaron Medley. This is fixable.

His mechanics are all jacked up. I saw a picture of his follow through where his leg was pointing dead left.

I think he is trying to kill the ball. I hate that circular motion. Just like golf, you will spray it all over the course. But every now and then crush one down the middle of the fairway. He needs consistency.

I think he will fix it but in the meantime I would give Toser a look.

Butch is saying he's hitting those kicks in practice, so I would agree its probably consistency and not trusting his fundamentals in a live game.

What a freaking joke

I may get criticized for this, and it doesn't mean that I am against finding a cure for cancer. I have had multiple family members either have had or passed away from cancer. But, a uniform policy is in place for a reason, and any time they blur the lines (regardless of reason), then other players will want to wear something, too. There has to be a line drawn. I have a required dress as a professional, and while I could wear a lapel pin or tie supporting a cause, there are certain things that I cannot wear regardless of what it promotes.

Now, if they agreed to allow it and are now fining him, that is wrong. JMO.

Tells me he's trying to kill the ball. That usually goes bad. I know in my golf game it does.

He needs to relax. Just kick the ball. Don't try to put a hole in the net, just kick it.

Wait, i thought Michigan state was in that division as well, and Iowa in the other division.

Edit: yea, I'm right.

Misremembered that Michigan State win against Ohio State two years ago as the championship game...my bad. Stupid setup by that conference. So yeah...Michigan State loses to Ohio State who loses to Michigan could be a humdinger. Big 12 went with Oklahoma over Texas even tho Texas had won the head to head...they based it on BCS ranking. Michigan has two losses so that may factor...could be a LSU-Alabama scenario...only in the playoffs...but lots to fall before that.

I say ok with the league as long as they donate those fines to the cause...maybe match it for extra PR.

This is the type of game where I think Jalen Hurd goes off. He should rush for 100 plus easily.

Yea he finally broke his weeks long media silence today and he isn't satisfied with himself or our season. He said he feels great physically also. UK is going down badly.

A big reason Medley is trying to kick the hell out of the ball is that Butch keeps sending him out there for 50+ yarders. He's been put in a lot of bad spots this year. Not exactly good for a struggling kicker.

Butch keeps sending him out there because the leg strength isn't the problem. I am guessing Butch wouldn't send Daniel Lincoln out to attemp those kicks. You have to trust your leg. It is very much like golf. If you average 300 yard drives, then you don't need to try to hit the hell out of the ball. Trust your swing and the length and accuracy will be fine.

He is a kicker. That's his job. He's missed a bunch for his career from 40+yards. He has the leg, it's just accuracy issues. He shouldn't be coddled

What else are we supposed to do on 4th and 8 from the 35? It's a tough kick, but you've gotta put that on the offense.

Right, but if you're in a funk, hitting a layup or a free throw is a lot easier than a three pointer (I see your analogy and raise you an analogy!). He needs to make a couple of easier kicks and get his confidence back before he keeps being sent out to make 50 yarders.

My point is, go for it on 4th down at that spot on the field Butch. Stop setting up your kicker to fail when he's already in a funk.

Medley needs to get back to fundamentals, like good golfers do when they start playing army golf. He needs to forget distance, he has the leg. He needs to kick down the line toward the target instead of at the target. He needs a consistent ball flight - like a golfer. Don't see any good kickers hitting fades. A nice gentle draw lined up inside the right upright. Forget trying to be straight every time - can't be done consistently. He needs to remember he had a successful season last year and can do it again if he finds his groove.

Well, then his criticism should be pointed at the offense for not getting past the 35 yard line. Needs some help from his teammates to hit that open layup.

But, he also missed a chipshot in the Arkansas game.

I figured that's what they would do with the fine. I know it's near and dear to you as well. At some point, we will find a cure.

Thanks...I appreciate that! I guess I should amend that to A good cause. If you specifically send it to that player's particular cause, it could encourage some tripped up violations for things like legalizing cannabis. :pinch:

And Bowling Green.

Totally agree. The offense needs to stop shrinking once we get past the 40 yard line. Keep attacking. Take shots downfield.

And yep, he's just been struggling since game 1. He was bad against Bowling Green. That's why I'm saying it's not a new thing, so Butch should stop sending him out there for 50+ yarders and setting him up for tons of criticism and hate. It only makes it worse at this point.

I agree though.

The last scoring drive in the Bama game showed exactly what the offense can do when Dobbs is cut loose. Hope they keep that up.

It might not be easy on Medley putting him out there for the long kicks, but it shows that you as a coach still believe in him. If Butch were to stop using him in kicking situations and just went for it, it would cause Medley to screw up even more as he would question himself even more.

This is a damned if you do, damned if you don't situation.
