The Grill and BBQ thread

So exciting, we just got a smoker and are using it for the first time today. Boston butt is in!

Just saw I wrote election instead of electric. Whoops. We are cooking though!

looks great :) I do have to say, that my last smoker cooking didn't come out to good,I used another rub and think I over smoked it

the ham came out pretty good and the sausages too,but the chicken is way to strong on the smoke part

Very nice! Did you use any smoke? I did the 765 method in the over but not on the grill yet, I want to try it while smoking , my wife made one stuffed with apples and onions, couldn't tell them apart after cooking! But it was pretty good

I didn't try any smoke but that's an interesting question. Could you infuse a smoke flavor into a pork tenderloin in 18 minutes of grill time?

I'd be worried about drying it out if it goes any longer, I can pump some smoke through my barrel grill pretty fast I want to try it

Nice. I've just got a regular ng Weber E310. You'll have to let us know how it turns out.

Wife had surgery yesterday, so today she got surf and turf

the few time I stuffed a bird,i was disappointed in the flavor of the stuff I put in it too,I didn't stuff them when I did the rub,I wonder if that would help ?

I guess it would be according to what is put in,I assume that apples and such wouldn't take to sitting in the fridge for a day or two ?

I'm not sure about it though,or would it be better to make a brine out of what you want to flavor them with and let it soak for a day or two ?

come to think of it,I need to buy 2 Turkeys and experiment on one, before Turkey Day gets here.with a brine and see if the Smoker can make one better than mamaws Turkey broaster that never fails, unless it get's way over cooked, that thing has to be over 60 years old at the very least

No idea, we did a brine and stuffed it with apples, garlic, onions, and lemon. Many reviews on this recipe were all positive. I wasn't wowed, not bad by any means, just not as I expected.

We are doing a turkey for thanksgiving too, I want to hear about your trials!!

there is just going to be one trial volwindy lol hopefully it will come out great

the recipe for the brine did ask for 2 oranges and 2 lemons,i'm hoping the turkey will fit in the bottom drawer of my fridge,so I can soak it in one and not have to find a container that will fit in my fridge

I think the only other container that is bigger,is the pan out of the Broaster and that thing is big ,it will eat up a lot of refrigerator space lol and take a crap load more brine :)

I am going to cut the salt level in half on the brine, hopefully that won't hurt the flavor any

this is the brine I'm going to use

I'm not sure about the fresh poultry herbs part though

I used a somewhat similar brine last year for the family turkey and it seemed to work out really well. It's the one from the Pioneer Woman(Food Network).

Also, for whatever reason we had an old canning pot laying around and it proved to be a perfect size for the turkey and the brine. If you don't have that you can also use a turkey brining bag.

Just get you a 5 gallon bucket from Walmart and put ur turkey, brine and ice in it. Then put in a bathtub. Make sure u keep ice on it and then no space to take up in the fridge

I don't have a canning pot ,that would be the right size
