This girl has learned a lot in that class. She learned that violence is most certainly a reasonable way to handle conflict. She learned that police can be trusted to use brutality as a means to handle minor disputes. And she learned that school really does suck as much as she thought. This form of "discipline" is not likely to help this girl start seeing things differently. If anything, it has probably confirmed her previous thoughts and has emboldened her against the institution even further. Job well done teacher and resource officer.

If she doesn't understand how her actions contributed to this incident then her and her parents are even more stupid that previously thought.

Ah yes, the new movement.

Taking responsibility for yourself, being held accountable, treating others with respect and not starting S = A psychopath.

You sir are the problem. Some day after you mature, you will understand this.

I have not once defended the actions of the girl in the video. Obviously she was being an idiot and a nuisance. She was not being respectful and is a certified drama queen for just not leaving.

I consider all of the above, and I don't think her actions justified the extremity of the officer's response. You obviously disagree. But of course, your main argument is the repeated use of the phrase "don't start no **** won't be no ****," so I might feel inclined to not give much consideration to someone who needs to quote Lil Jon in order to articulate his reasoning.

If you don't give a damn, I don't give a ****.

Communication 101, speak for how your audience will understand. If you can't have a little fun that's your problem.

So, how do you suggest these situations are handled? Don't tell what not to do, I get your stance. What specifically do you do to remove disruptive students who refuse to leave?

Edit: Never knew where that line was from. Learn something new every day.

I'm not particularly comfortable with what happened in that video but what had she "learned" before that happened? That whatever she wants is what she gets? That rules don't apply to her? That actions she takes that interfere with the lives of others is something she can engage in without repercussion? I'm not particularly impressed with that POV either.

So, and this is a dead honest question (for anyone), exactly what action (or escalation of action) would have been deemed appropriate in this case?

I would prefer an officer of the law doesn't manhandle a school girl with the type of force and violence you'd expect him to apply to a fighting crackhead.

Deputy Dog was put on leave for his actions here. You don't have much of a leg to stand on when even his own don't put up with that trash.

He should've been put in the unemployment line.

Rosa Parks actually broke the law in Jim Crow Alabama and the redneck cops at that time didn't even drag her out her seat like that.

He could have restrained her without flipping the desk over and then throwing her like a sack of dog food.

Equality. Enjoy.

I'm comparing two people that refused to leave their seats. That is about as far as the comparison needs to go to make my point.

Have you watched the video? I was unaware Rosa had a death grip on her school desk she refused to get out of.

Seriously, stop comparing an awesome, legitimate reason to maintain your seat on a bus to this dumbass girl.

He probably tried that already. I bet he also bent down on one need and temporarily became that father figure she never had. He probably told her how special she was and that she could do anything she could dream of. Nothing is impossible! They both probably shed a tear whilst contemplating the duality between student and resource officer. They held hands, and shared a moment. La'Quænasorøusréx though could not control her anti authority hostility she had been taught at a young age and what we see is the culmination of the officers attempts to coerce the troublemaker politely from the class.

Most of these I expect the boot-lickers to try and justify but every once and and while one comes along and it simply amazes me when people don't see how f'd up is it.
