'17 TN OL/DT Trey Smith (UT commit 12/6/2016)

From the Rivals Alabama site"

Smith may have grown up in the Volunteer State, but he has always been a fan of the Crimson Tide.

"What can you say," he replied when asked to give his thoughts of Alabama. "They have all those national championships. Coach Saban is about to pass Bear Bryant in all-time win percentage at Alabama.

"I have always grown up an Alabama fan. I've been a fan even during the Shula years. It's hard to say that living in Tennessee. I love Alabama's ground-and-pound offense. It's similar to what we do here. I know it will help me if I go to Alabama. They are one of the most elite, dominant programs in college football."

The four-star lineman is heavily recruited by Tennessee. He was in Knoxville for the Georgia game.

but the. alabama fans going to have to stop bringing up saban sooner rather than later he getting olderan d wont be coach that many more years and while they will continue to be a good program,i believe the dayso f having 25 to 30 five* players on team with alot of high 4* is going to slow down and they will lose some of their dominance, they will"still do good some years but i see them being a middle of the pack team on occasion also,

It doesn't hurt that a former VFL is helping mentor him during his recruitment. I feel good about this one at this time.

It's hard for me to believe these young pups were bammer fans 8 or so yrs pre saban. Could be to cover up being labled bandwagon fan like most of them are. Imo

Fan might be the most misused word in the English language. I'm not going to get into all that though. I still like out chances here.

I am shocked he could name Shula. Most bama fans it was Saban coming in right after Bear left.

If this kid becomes a vol then wow. How the hell does that happen? I love how the justification is " I was a fan in the Shula years." I hope he is kidding.

A lot of these kids that are collegiate level athletes aren't fans of teams rhe same way we are. It is very rare that you see one of these kids that is an actual fan of a school.

I don't even keep up with '17 recruits. So much can happen in a year or more. No need to worry yet
