Celeb heroes? Thats a big problem we have as a nation. Jolie could do some good right here at home, where most of her money is made.

Like I said, personal issues aside, she's an amazing humanitarian and I try emulate her passion and dedication to her cause. If she wants to wear a little blood around her neck, it certainly isn't hurting anyone. There are people who do much stranger and much more harmful things that won't and can't be remembered for anything that has the potential to affect the entire world.

Wow, the ignorance behind this mentality is astounding.

I recommend that you run, don't walk, to your closest library or book store and obtain a book in the general area of global political economy.

How about you run, dont walk to some local churches and you will see people that dedicate their entire lives to serving the greater good. That dont have the luxury of millions of dollars to fall back on.

And those people are doing amazing work, too. The UNHCR often works with these organizations and involves their efforts and resources in their relief efforts.

So here's a woman who has millions of dollars that she wants to share by doing some relief work. What exactly is the problem with that?

I guess since she's a celebrity she should just spend it on fab dresses and her coke habit.

The great part about Jolie is that she can afford to do both! I know tons of childless couples who would love to fly to south america and steal a kid or two on a whim!

No problem with donating money...just don't see the hero factor in it.

brad pit must want to off himself. thought he was going to be doing this really hot chick all the time. now he's playing mr mom to the united nations. for his sake let's hope he's cheating on her.

Most of the time these celebs do stuff like this for the press, try to make you forget how hollow and out of touch they are!

Since the thread says hero/role model I'll put my parents on the list.

They worked hard and did all they could to provide for the family without complaining about it or claiming any bad fortune they suffered was someone else's fault. They never preached this once but showed it every day with their actions.

Great post VBH. I will go with your post, not that your parents are my role models. I meant my mom and older siblings.
