I just wish that this incident would have stayed in house.
I understand those wanting to use it to get rid of Butch because of on the field efforts and not have to pay the ten million dollar buyout.
I understand that on an emotional level because of the depression over our three losses and how coaching decisions led to those losses.
But this incident should not be used to that end.
It should be assessed on its own criterion.

You don't have to be a rocket scientist to read between the lines of Cheeks statement and Crowders tweets.

Any first year law student would say that neither of them addressed the question.
Did Butch hit Crowder?
I had reserved judgement until these statements.
I now believe that he did in some form or fashion.
It could have been a bump or a shove or a smack.
I do NOT believe it was a full on wind up close fisted serious punch. If it was, U T would have had no choice but to fire him with cause no matter what the Crowder family wanted. Otherwise, UTs legal dept would go ballistic over liability concerns.
But, I don't think that, in most people's rationally thought out opinions, whatever happened rose to the level of Butch being fired. He may have already been internally chastised and apologized to the Crowder family. Who knows.
Most importantly, I believe that Crowder and his family did not want to pursue this and that U T is glad they didn't (especially if there is video out there).

To Butch I would say, please cut the crap.
Helm, Wharton, Hendrix, other Vol transfers, and now a former Cincy punter of yours have stated that you don't treat players well.
You look like you will explode at times on the sidelines.
If you have an anger mgt problem, get help for it before it destroys your career and furthur damages our program.
You are an Awesome recruiter. That is unquestioned.
Now, become an awesome person and that might just lead to you becoming an overall well rounded Awesome coach.
It's all up to you. You've got it in you. :rock:

I'm still pretty positive. I know conspiracy theorist, crazy person, blah blah. But I saw some shady texts from people involved.

Happy that's over, but it could have been handled much better. I hate to kick a man while he's down, but Butch just can't seem to get out of his own way. This rumor had the potential to hurt him way more than anyone else. Instead of explicitly denying it, he brushed it off as a silly internet hoax hoping that would be the end of it. Can't really blame the fans or media for the rampant speculation when the onus was on Butch. I'm just glad the administration stepped in so we can shift our attention back to football.

So let me get this straight. You believe that Butch ACTUALY punched Crowder. And you believe that Crowders family DID NOT want to persue an assault to their son by his football coach? And if you believed this actually hapoened, you would want it taken care of internally?? Please tell me this is supposed to be all blue font.

Big difference.
If it was a full wind up close fisted punch, UT would have already fired him with cause.
