Super Bow Champions (Year is regular season, not the year the team won in January):

1995: 49ers- Jerry Rice
1996: Packers- Antonio Freeman
1997: Broncos- Rod Smith, Ed McCaffrey
1998: Broncos- Rod Smith, Ed McCaffrey
1999: Rams- Issac Bruce, Torry Holt
2000: Ravens
2001: Patriots- Troy Brown, Terry Glenn
2002: Bucs- Keyshawn Johnson, Keenan McCardell
2003: Patriots (Troy Brown washed up)
2004: Patriots (Troy Brown washed up)
2005: Steelers- Hines Ward
2006: Colts- Marvin Harrison, Reggie Wayne
2007: Giants- Plaxico Burress
2008: Steelers- Hines Ward
2009: Saints- Marques Colston
2010: Packers- Greg Jennings
2011: Giants- Victor Cruz
2012: Ravens
2013: Seahawks
2014: Seahawks

Clearly not an overblown position, as all these players were pro bowlers the year the won, or the year before/after.

Some great names on that list for sure. I didn't mean to sound like it wasn't important it's just very far from the most important imo. There are some names there that were nothing without the man throwing them the passes IMO.

And by shuffling in and out 8-10 WR's all game, when we finally do get to the 4th quarter our studs will still be fresh and as fast as they were in the first quarter. There is a big benefit.

I think as the game tightens, the rotation will tighten.

With a game on the line, North would the go to WR. Every damn time.

He probably will be but we haven't had a game on the line yet. We have a ton of playmakers that we can count on with game on the line. Hurd/ Kamara/North/pig/Pearson can each be counted on making the big play with confidence

Fair enough :hi:

94 was the niners with Rice. 95 was the cowboys with Irvin

Man I would love to see North catch a crossing pattern over the middle in stride like Pearson had last game.

I want to see him run over somebody and drag a poor little cornerback Da'Rick style.

You're right. I got mixed up. I knew the Cowboys beat the Steelers, just forgot to put it up there

Its not a problem. I'm a Cowboys fan though and its been a while. Can't screw me out of being on the list!! Ha. Technically you could put 92 Cowboys with Harper and Irvin and 93 Cowboys with Harper and Irvin as well.

I just wanted to do the last 20 years. Good stuff though!

Interesting stat I just looked up.

Gross punting avg vs BG.

BG's punter avg'd 48.66 yds per punt.
UT's punter avg'd 47 yds per punt.

Both teams punters had excellent gross punt avg's, so what was the big difference in net?

Speed.

BG's punter could kick the hell out of the ball, but their ST players could not keep up with the ball, giving Cam time to get up to full speed and the blockers time to find their assignment.

UT's punter could kick the hell out of the ball, but on our side, the ST's unit could keep up with the kick and were waiting for their returner when he caught the ball.

Their best starting position in the game was their own 35 and that was from a muffed kick off. I think our was in their red zone or close to it.

OU is a huge national game but lose it, beat Florida and win the SEC east and play for/ win SEC Championship, it'll be a distant memory.

Probably true. But lose the OU game and there will be a TON of pressure on this young team to win the FL game. And it's already on the road in the swamp with the streak looming. No extra pressure would be good

Plus, they all have experience.

This really is a huge swing game for us. If we win this game our confidence will be sky high and our players will believe they can beat anybody.

If we lose, it's going to really really tough for the players and especially the fans to shake off those "here we go again" vibes.

I think it's a really big game for our season. It's the difference between enormous national exposure, which would legitimize everything Butch has done with this program heading into SEC play, and potentially tumbling out of the top 25 altogether.

If we lose all the haters will collectively let out a huge sigh of relief and scurry to the message boards to scream out "I told you so!"

Luckily we're about to take Oklahoma out behind the shed and have it our way.

I don't consider Marques Colston, Greg Jennings, or Victor Cruz elite WR's on the pro level. They are/were very good but not Hall of Famers. The start of your list is better. BTW, New England was last year, and they didn't have an elite WR either....but they cheated.

Rob Lewis matchup article on VQ. He predicts UT to win 30-27.

Some of that article...

One Man's Fearless Prediction: Butch Jones can fall back on the old 'it's the most important game because it's the next game' mantra all he wants, but it's hard to overstate how big this one is for the program. No, it doesn't derail the season if you lose, ample opportunities for big wins and SEC glory exist. However, there's no denying that a win here would be a statement for a fledgling program and could serve as a springboard for the rest of the year. Managing all that hype with a young football team will be a delicate task for Butch Jones on Saturday.

On the other hand, there's been enough trash talk from the Sooners' head coach down to Eric 'Gas up their A@#' Striker that the Vols should be motivated by more than just the opportunity to make a statement.

Back when we were good and in the days of my student life from 99-03 big games were every weekend. Normally I would get nervous after the band came and saluted the hill and would have to go take a pre-game dump in the UC. I had a nervous pre-game dump today just thinking about this matchup. Its good to have these games again.

You're Exactly right, Hunter Daniel looked good. His hang time seemed to be much better than BG's imo. Love how we can get the most out of our special teams (other than Med last week) it seems.
