Well...we do get back Pig and it sounds like Martin will play a huge role this week. Oh, and McNeil can be officially taken off the "out for the season" list. Not all bad news today.

True, the McNeil news is very good to hear.

Still, it's beyond aggravating to see a starting upperclassman get suspended before a huge game. That is something you can control, unlike injuries.

@Volquest_Paul: Butch non-commital on WR starts. Said they don't have starters as they play a lot of guys. "We need to play 10 wide receivers."

I don't really like this. I know guys need breathers but leave North in there and let him work.

North, Pig, and Pearson will be the go to guys this ball game.

agreed some players need 4 or 5 plays to get into rhythm

Our WR are expected to put much more effort and emphasis into edge blocking than most other places.

IMO that is why the rotation is a must.

From my view the plays north might make isn't worth the loss of having a fresh guy making edge blocks that spring our ball carries that create big plays.

Lol obviously not literal but it's surprising to see how many think it's not a big deal.

Well, what are we supposed to do? Commiserate over all the ways that OU is going to gash us up the middle now that O'Brien is out?

It's a loss. It's not a huge loss. There are 8-9 players on the team whose absence could be called a huge loss. Danny O isn't one of them (unless he is indeed done for the year).

It will be ok. Highly doubt he would have started all year..just hope the reason isn't crazy.

Vickers/KMAC/Shy/Owen

I'm pretty sure DOB is #1 on the depth chart, so yeah, he's starting all year. Not to mention in game 2, he is definitely starting and important against a team that runs a hurry up offense where you need fresh bodies.

Basically, I think the further we are into the season, the less of a loss DOB would be, once the freshmen get their legs under them and get in better shape. In game 2, it's a pretty big loss. Very little experience behind him.

10 plays is 60 seconds of effort...... so no

I'd call it like it is and say anytime losing a starter especially on a unit that struggled as bad as it did last week cant be seen as anything other than bad news. Not saying we'll lose the game because of if, but it's a big loss.

Doesn't matter what offense is coming at us, air raid or the wishbone, we'd be better off with DOB on the field.

So you think a WR shouldn't have a loss of productivity if they play 10 straight plays due to conditioning????

I would strongly disagree with the pace of play we play with especially considering the heat of last Saturday and the early season

Bingo.

I've never understood the rotation at WR. These guys are well - conditioned.

Leave North, Pig, and Pearson out there and let 'em work.

More importantly, Dobbs seems to have confidence in him...and looks for him.

Yep. I also enjoy that Dobbs goes through his reads as well. He isn't always a run happy QB. He has good pocket presence.

I would look to see JJ have 3 catches at least this game.

I hate that the Crowder apologists have kind of forced people to bring up the negative things about Crowder. He's not big/fast/good enough for a top SEC team, but he filled a need and worked his tail off.

Exactly. When I see VolNation making fun of OUR players (especially in this thread...)...well, it makes me sad.
