Nope. I said nothing of the sort.
Clearly, CBJ is seen as somewhat of a savior of this program (flipping a terrible roster) and someone who can within the next 2 year get us competing for SEC and national championships.
My point is that if we get blown out by OU, taken with the UF debacle last year, the proverbial writing on the wall would be there for our fanbase that CBJ is much closer to a Richt or Fulmer (once the rest of the SEC caught up) than a Saban, Malzahn, Pete Carroll, Meyer, Bryant, Neyland, etc.
Denying such would be akin to being a UGA fan who can't bring themselves to admit that Richt will never get the job done despite all the tools in the world.
Having said all that, our fanbase should understand more than anyone that firing a Fulmer, despite their faults, doesn't not guarantee a brighter future.

Easier when you throw out the rest of the games AND the recruiting/culture reset. Overreaction is overreaction. And if we DON'T get "blown out"? Or (EGAD!) win? Whatchu gonna do with all that pent up defeatism? :dunno:

So if we beat Oklahoma, when is the next DOOMSDAY game? Georgia or Florida? Don't say "yes".![]()
I get why people don't like me. I'm a despicable person, very negative all the time in everything I do. I actually hate myself for it but it's how I've been since I can remember. I'm too stubborn to change which is horrible I know. I'm sorry.

Good to hear. Wasn't sure where you were going with your post. That said, I'm pretty sure I can already tell you CBJ isn't Nick Saban, Urban Meyer or Pete Carroll, and he won't have those kinds of results at Tennessee. Partly because Tennessee is not Alabama, Ohio State or USC. We are great program with rich tradition, but we need to have a rational set of expectations. Our history suggests a successful CBJ will have a tenure that is much closer to that of Richt at UGA.

It will never end. Every game will be a doomsday game for some element of the fanbase. And there always going to be that group that will never buy into CBJ and will wait eagerly for him to inevitably fail in some key game or another so they can say "Told you so!"
Different people enjoy their teams in different ways I guess.

Maybe so. If you take last year's UF game and a blowout loss at home to OU, I don't know how a reasonable fan would conclude that we have a coach capable of taking us where we eventually want to go.
If Butch keeps up the same level of recruiting, he won't really need to be an elite coach. He will win some big games based on talent disparity alone. There aren't many teams out there that have a roughly fifth-ranked class average ranking over 4 years, which is where I'd put us after NSD 2017.
I think it's a pretty fantastical leap in logic to conclude that from his statement lol
