The crowd will be a factor up until the point OU is up by 17 at half time. I hate to go all catbone on everyone but our db's looked slow and confused and that's not getting fixed in 6 days. OU has much better receivers and equally good qb. I see the same result as last year when we played them.

I think we will see VN in full meltdown around 9pm Saturday.

Maybe I am wrong on this, but I don't believe that OU has an equally good QB than BG. Mayfield was a walk on at Tech and eventually got beat out. The times that I saw him at Tech, he did not stretch the field. It was a more of a dink and dunk. Collectively, the OU WR's may be higher ranked than BG, but the BG WR's were very good.

Don't understand how people don't realize that each game stands alone. If they didn't torch is last year, then I don't believe they torch us this year. Our defense will be better this year, regardless of one game.

Our offense will be worlds better

Only a few posters have said otherwise

I have seen a lot of optimism

I guess it's mixed in somewhat. But if we go out Saturday and get it handed to us, we have to look at the coaching. We have the talent to hang with this team and very well win the game.

I think this game is a win win game with nothing to lose.

Year 3 we aren't supposed to beat a national program this early in the season IMO. We all know we can win but Saturday doesn't tell us anything about the coaching unless it's positive IMO.

There's no way in haides that OU's QB and receivers are better than BG. We won't see our DBs get their butts kicked that bad again. If we can score 30, we win imo.

If we aren't supposed to beat borderline top 25 teams at home in year 3 and after back to back top 5 classes, then when the hell are we supposed to do it?

I think we look similar to Oklahoma in many aspects. It should be a close one that could go either way, imo. Don't think I'd put any money on this one.

OU is a national program. Top 10 program over the last decade and we certainly aren't at this time.

They have a huge head start on us for this season.

This isn't a bench mark game.

I think it's a huge testament to cbj that was are basically an even pick to win the game.

Actually BGs were highly rated. One from OSU, one from Oregon. Gallon and Dieter are beasts too. I'd take BGs all day long.

They were good, but we'll face better qb and WR often. Transferring from a p5 school could just as easily mean they couldn't cut it at a good program.

All the OU homers are saying the same thing about Akron DL, p5 transfers, probably a better DL they'll see all year.

People have been counting Okla a win since Media Days. Early odds had the Vols by 3 this summer. Spears, McFarland, McElroy, Maria Taylor, even Finebaum have picked UT to beat Okla. Everybody will back away from it now because of how we played Saturday, but many, many people in the sports world expected UT to contend this year.

You realize teams change year to year, not over 10 years..A national champion can be unranked the next year and be beaten by someone like us. The last 10 years have no significance in this game. We should be picked to be close or beat many of these teams that have been better than us for a decade. We should expect a win Saturday and nothing less.

Well if OU throws it around with the precision that BG did, I'm gona start believing in the curse.

I am inclined to agree with Bruin on this one. Oklahoma is "borderline" Top 25 right now, yes, but they have the potential to be a really good team. If they blow our doors off that's cause for MAJOR concern, yes, but losing is not the end of the season by any stretch.

FWIW, 538 (Nate Silver) has us going 9-3 with losses to Oklahoma, South Carolina, and Missouri. Now, maybe you're thinking there's no way we beat Florida, Alabama, and Georgia in the same season but manage to lose to South Carolina and Mizzou. A fair point, but the game of football is a funny thing like that.

This Saturday isn't a make or break game. It's an important one, and I believe the Vols will find a way to pull it out, but it doesn't have to define our season if we lose. If we win, however, watch out.

And we don't?

Absolutely we do. That's why the game is a pick 'em. You've got two teams who could realistically win.

Like I said, I'll be upset if Oklahoma demolishes us, but I don't think that will happen. I'm not going to let it tank my 8-4 call on the season if we lose, that's all I mean.

Sure I know Things change from year to year but I also know OU is picked as a playoff team this year from well respected media

The same respected media guy who picked OU as a playoff team picked UT to win the SECE. Just sayin.

But those same well-respected media members only voted them to be the 19th best team in the country.
