I'd guess that what Stoops says to the media and what he tells his team are two different things.
They have no idea what kind of atmosphere they are about to walk into. 102k bloodthirsty fans that have waiting for this type of game to return to Neyland Stadium for years.
I'm here... Some of you act like I hate Coleman Thomas. I said that I believed Mack to be the best center on the team.
Here are some of my post game thoughts. Coleman Thomas did great. No bad snaps. Awesome on the plays where he pulls. Gets to second level quick from the Cemter position. He had key diving blocks on at least two of Hurds TD's. I'm not sure Crowder would have positioned himself to make those same blocks. As long as Coleman doesn't botch any snaps, then he's an upgrade over Mack.
My main concern is that there could be a trade off. Better snapping with Mack, but better blocking from CT. If we're in a close game, pinned down deep, then a bad snap will be the difference in a win and a loss.
Overall I was impressed with the OL. Kerb Stomper played great along with Coleman. Kendrick could improve his run blocking, but was great in pass pro. He was intentionally left one on one in many pass plays. On some plays he lined up as a TE next to Kerbyson.
Mack did play left Guard for a series, I think in the 2Q. He did well with the few plays he got. Not sure if that was by design or if Jashon had injury/equipment issues. Either way, it shows me he is the 6th lineman should we suffer an injury.
Jumper had a great opportunity on that 4th down conversion early. If he makes that play, then he would surely continue to get a lot of snaps. That was his golden opportunity.
LWS lives in reality. Many do not.
Plus a 6 o'clock game and a rowdy liquored up crowd. Oh boy
The crowd will be a factor up until the point OU is up by 17 at half time. I hate to go all catbone on everyone but our db's looked slow and confused and that's not getting fixed in 6 days. OU has much better receivers and equally good qb. I see the same result as last year when we played them.
I think we will see VN in full meltdown around 9pm Saturday.
I think Breakerboy said for a while that Berry is better suited at CB or Nickel. That was a bad game for him. I would have liked to see him at CB.
I thought McNeil wouldn't be a big loss, but it sure hurt Saturday. I think TKJr will be good though. McNeil has experience which helps in positioning.
You obviously didn't watch their game. Their OL is a hot mess. Every team has issues, and overall we're in a slightly better place than they are.
Their WR will definitely eat, but that's not all there is to a game.
