They have no idea what kind of atmosphere they are about to walk into. 102k bloodthirsty fans that have waiting for this type of game to return to Neyland Stadium for years.

I'd guess that what Stoops says to the media and what he tells his team are two different things.

I think they are intimidated simply because Stoops and his players keep bringing up stadium noise and saying it's not a factor.

There isn't a stadium in the Big 12 that comes close to Neyland when it's rocking.

Sequel in the works...Good At What He Does Which Doesn't Include Coaching. Foreword by Deerpark musing on Justin Martin being an instant bust. :)

Lol

Deerpark's bucket doesn't hold water. Shouldn't be mentioned in the same post as Larry IMO

I'm here... Some of you act like I hate Coleman Thomas. I said that I believed Mack to be the best center on the team.

Here are some of my post game thoughts. Coleman Thomas did great. No bad snaps. Awesome on the plays where he pulls. Gets to second level quick from the Cemter position. He had key diving blocks on at least two of Hurds TD's. I'm not sure Crowder would have positioned himself to make those same blocks. As long as Coleman doesn't botch any snaps, then he's an upgrade over Mack.

My main concern is that there could be a trade off. Better snapping with Mack, but better blocking from CT. If we're in a close game, pinned down deep, then a bad snap will be the difference in a win and a loss.

Overall I was impressed with the OL. Kerb Stomper played great along with Coleman. Kendrick could improve his run blocking, but was great in pass pro. He was intentionally left one on one in many pass plays. On some plays he lined up as a TE next to Kerbyson.

Mack did play left Guard for a series, I think in the 2Q. He did well with the few plays he got. Not sure if that was by design or if Jashon had injury/equipment issues. Either way, it shows me he is the 6th lineman should we suffer an injury.

I think what they aren't really expecting is that our fans are indeed bloodthirsty right now. We are hungry and we will probably be as hyped for this as any Florida game during the Spurrier years minus all the rivalry hate/meanness. If fans behave the way I expect, Neyland will be so live it won't resemble a typical OOC matchup but rather a rivalry or SEC matchup.

Jumper had a great opportunity on that 4th down conversion early. If he makes that play, then he would surely continue to get a lot of snaps. That was his golden opportunity.

Props for showing up.

I think coaches have said Jack is 6th man though.

I know it was discussed earlier, but are we sure that the commentators were using old info when they mentioned McNeil?

When they showed the list of fall camp injuries, one of them said that McNeil may be back much sooner than originally thought.

Yeah. He needs to have limited snaps on Saturday. Too slow, bad leverage and running into the blocks shouldn't be a consistent affair.

LWS lives in reality. Many do not.

Only a fellow pessimist would consider LWS a true realist. Now, he is obviously well connected to the program and you can take whatever he says to the bank. If LWS says Big Mack is not in game ready condition vs. tempo offenses, then in all likelihood the coaches do indeed feel this way. Iyam, the Debbie Downer line in his post is, "so we have 4 DTs we can count on this week..." Wah wah waahhh. Never mind the fact that the Vols are still probably in better shape at DT from a depth and talent standpoint than they've been in 7 or 8 years. Also, did you see his post about the growth of the OL and improvement at QB? I didn't either. And likely never will, at least not without a HUGE caveat to temper expectations.

Fortunately, it seems that LWS has a thick skin to criticism because I would sure hate to see him quit posting. Outside of the actual media, he is one of the few true UT football insiders on the Internet and I like to read what he has to say. You must, however, consider the source's outlook b/c only a like-minded individual would suggest that he is anything other than a glass half-empty kind of guy.

Plus a 6 o'clock game and a rowdy liquored up crowd. Oh boy

The crowd will be a factor up until the point OU is up by 17 at half time. I hate to go all catbone on everyone but our db's looked slow and confused and that's not getting fixed in 6 days. OU has much better receivers and equally good qb. I see the same result as last year when we played them.

I think we will see VN in full meltdown around 9pm Saturday.

I think Breakerboy said for a while that Berry is better suited at CB or Nickel. That was a bad game for him. I would have liked to see him at CB.

I thought McNeil wouldn't be a big loss, but it sure hurt Saturday. I think TKJr will be good though. McNeil has experience which helps in positioning.

You obviously didn't watch their game. Their OL is a hot mess. Every team has issues, and overall we're in a slightly better place than they are.

Their WR will definitely eat, but that's not all there is to a game.

McNeil is worse than berry in pass coverage. He got torched often last year. His strength is closer to the los.

Berry will be fine, he'll learn.

They said one thing but did another then.

Why was Mack in there instead of Jack?

If I'm not mistaken, that statement about Jack being 6th man was made at a point when Crowder was considered starting center and Thomas a candidate for RT. I could be misremembering though.

@TheDannyParker: #Vols @UTCoachJones says freshman DT Kahlil McKenzie to see reps increase at practice this week. Missed 1-1/1/2 weeks of practice, set back.

Likely set him back conditioning wise as well

@TheDannyParker: #Vols @UTCoachJones says frosh LB Darrin Kirkland Jr. has ability to be a very, very good football player. Needs to work on communication.

Bet that means jumper gets the correct calls made and likely starts again. Jmo

Their two all world running backs COMBINE for 60 rushing yards?...against AKRON? I know they were trying to anoint Mayfield and Mixon getting 100 plus receiving is a good thing, but I smell waste of resources.
