Snickers, Little Debbies and Mountain Dew are what you consider "groceries"? First, no wonder America is so fat. Second, I would be a little more sympathetic if he had stolen $5 worth of broccoli or spinach. He stole because he is either lazy or his moral compass sees nothing wrong with it. Now let's get philosophical about all this. Would YOU front him the money for these kinds of "foods"? Why should the shop owner? When azzhats like this guy steal from him, how is he supposed to stop the bleeding? If you dismiss this as nothing, you are showing that you have absolutely zero experience in retail, and therefore zero credibility when arguing the point about harm. My father ran a retail five and dime store for years, and it is staggering the amount of merchandise that is shoplifted. Somebody pays for that. $5 here, $5 there and pretty soon you are talking about serious money.
