Extra large or super-sized?

You win by recruiting as many talented players as you can. If you find a talented 295-320 OL then you recruit him. Antone Davis was probably our 1st 300 OL. Davis showed us what a talented a 300 pounder could do. All-Sec @ G in 89 and All-Sec @ T in 90.

We'll find out during the Arkansas game. They have a huge O-line. Let's see how our D-line does.

Other than Mosely, do we really have anybody outside the 295-315th range?. I think you make valid points, but there's a fine line between athletic and being susceptible to the bull rush and having the LOS moved backwards on every snap.

hall is 318lbs
kendrick 318lb
sanders 318lbs (hurt)
mosely 350
kerbyson 318

a few others at right about 315lbs

these guys are bigger than last yr except for Crowder.Shocker.

Almost all of the talking heads I've heard in the last month or so say Ark. has the best O. line in college football.
And, its a fact (check the stats) that they have the largest O. line in college or the pro's.

Arkansas is the team I am most concerned about. Georgia and Bama both will be tough to win, Florida will be tough simply because it's in the swamp, but I predict a Vol win, Mizzou is a wait and see how their season goes, but Vols should win, but Razorbacks showed a lot of improvement late, gained confidence, and will be out to prove the hype around Tennessee's resurgence is inaccurate. This game is scary.

I remember in 09 we had the Sullin twins starting at center and guard both at around 260. I also remember a 360 pound fat azz Cody from Bama running over them to block our game winning field goal with his arm pit.

Edit: also C. Mosley has been the only one who can hang with KMac in the circle of life drill. Because he has the mass to match up.

That dude has a Superbowl ring...

eBay?

He was actually an impressive player at UK. His stature just made him a freak show to the fans. Kinda funny watching 235# defensive ends slam into him in the pocket, and it still took 2 seconds to drag him to the turf. Had a cannon of an arm.

All that bulk really helped them alot.

Why don't we just recruit 5'9" running backs to play OL then? They can squat as much as OL and they will be quick pulling guards... That is the logic you are using.

You make it sound like we are recruiting Flouder from Animal House..."Fat,drunk, stupid, slow, and weak is no way to go thru life or play OL son"...

I somewhat agree. But it one of them situations like your dammed if u do or your dammed if you don't. With the spread offenses these days you would think the lighter lineman would work better. But what gets me is when you get in one of these tough nose to nose SEC games that's won and lost in the trenches. If we was Oregon in the PAC I would definitely say we need to stay smaller and quicker but its a totally different animal in the SEC. I think we should keep doing what the SEC is known for, big strong lineman with fast LBs. Its worked for a long time.
