Preston Williams test score flagged by NCAA

As of today, there has been no news on his ACT status. The rumors on passing or failing are just rumors, nothing more. Word has not been received.

As far as practice or how he looks the medical staff has not cleared him for anything but straight ahead running. He can't do any cuts or moves. He looks okay in straight line running but that is not catching passes.

He continues to rehab in the football complex.

Preston would have been a 5 star and the #1 or #2 WR coming out of HS if not for the injury. Most services had him there but his ranking progressively dropped as the season went on.
Plus PW is a type A personality the WR core desperately lacks.

I don't think he got hurt till the playoffs iirc.

It really depends on many things whether he plays this year or not. How long ago his surgery was and what type of repair was performed, how he is progressing with his rehab, whether his body trusts his knee yet or not. Sometimes it takes a while for someone to be able to plant off of/cut off of that leg again. All these variables are different person to person. My guess is if he is only doing straight line running, he is either not very far out from surgery, not progressing as quickly as others, or is having some problems with some things. If he progresses to cutting, agility, and plyometric activities soon, and his quad is built back up to his good leg, physically there isn't any reason why he couldn't practice or play this fall.

True. now back to the discussion. Rod Wilkes was able to play at a high level with 3 torn acl's. Surely pw can play without 1.

Did Rod grant you permission to misspell his name?

WILKS

BTW, Did you know that "misspelled" is one of the Top 100 misspelled words in the English language.

And it's waaayyyy to early for anyone to speculate if a guy will leave after his RS Sophmore or true Junior year. He hasn't even played a down of college football yet!
The surgeons and Prestons number one concern will be his knee. The surgeon won't release him until he thinks it's ready. If it's ready it will be up to the coaches to determine whether he knows enough about the system, blocking, plays, etc to see the field this fall or not.

First everyone says that PW is better than anyone else on the roster right now and will be gone in 3 years regardless. Second, if we are going to lose him anyway then you play him as soon as possible, even if that's only with half the year left. 2 1/2 years > 2 years & a redshirt year

Asking Williams to play this year without being fully healed is quite literally putting a one legged man in an ass kicking contest. The coaches knew the deal going into this. If he needs to redshirt, you can bank on it happening regardless of how much we fans justify getting the most PT from Tennessee's investment in him.

I don't know who "everyone" is, but there is absolutely no way anyone can make that statement given he has never went up against any college defense either our own In a practice or someone else in a game. He has only played against HS competition. He may be as talented or better, but that doesn't equal a better player in any stretch. To say he will be gone in 3 years regardless at this point is foolish.

agree. kid has not even proven he can go against Brian Randolph successfully

Mainly because he is on a different level from anyone we have had in a very long time. If he redshirts, we only get 2 years out of him.

As for Jennings, he is still learning the position and has not seen live snaps yet. He may very well turn out to be a good WR, but it is way too early to crown him as one of the leaders of our WR group.

I know it was just open practice but no one could cover Jennings. I was more impressed by him than anyone else that day. I am Not saying he is better than Williams but I do believe by the end of the year he will have a huge impact on this team.
